Getting elected Lord Commander (even with the losses the nights watch had suffered) was hard to take seriously for sure. Assuming Mel brings him back I suspect he'll likely suffer some debilitation as a result.

Maybe for some people, it just didn't bother me. I think people underplay the amount of respect for his blood that he has in the watch
