For anyone who has gotten confused as to where we are up to (what with me picking up Lex's chapter and all) The next chapter to be claimed is Daenerys IV

We are exactly halfway now kids. :)


Good stuff, though oddly enough I hoped that (Mimi cover your ears) the TV show season 3 might have the chance to provide some inspiration for these drawings. Well, I can't complain about the improved pace and I'm sure influences will seep in there at some point.

I didn't expect so much participation, but to be honest, I think ASOS is the most popular book, and more people are keen to join in. We will have a slump during AFFC/ADWD just wait ...people will not want to draw Brienne chapters. though I may want to call dibs on the Myriah swamp scene. ;)

That bit of description never fails to remind me of the dialogue you can get if you're two-timing in Dragon Age. Especially poignant since one of them is a witch who lives in a swamp. Her rival will accuse you of "wading in her swamp"!

Thanks guys. I don't think I have drawn anything since 8th grade (yr 2000) and I've never drawn with a computer. It was fun to mess around with stuff.

So what is the etiquette for politely waiting for other to have a turn before claiming more chapters?

There is no established etiquette as such - generrally you can wait as long as you like, or just jump in and claim another one! I'd probably hesitate at doing three in a row though, though it's happened during slumps before during A Clash of Kings.
I say, go for it while you're keen! :)

So do we wait until we get to the end before going back and commandeering the claims that people abandoned along the way? Looking through the thread, I see that Dany I, Sansa III, Jon IV, and Jaime IV have been dormant for a number of months not to mention a few more recent ones that have been left for a couple weeks. I did not follow the earlier book projects, how does this end up playing out? Is it just that some people draw at the rate GRRM writes, or have they just forgotten that they claimed one?

I'm not worried about those claims yet. I'll chase them up when we get close to the end - it's takes people some time to draw pictures, or find time to draw them. :)

The first book didn't have this issue (as far as I can remember) but the second book did. I chased everyone who was owing up, and some produced their pictures, or gave them up. Hopefully some of those who have claimed will draw their pictures - my last picture took me a few months, so I think it's too early to be taking pictures off people. :)

Ya lets not worry about claiming the earlier ones for expiry until we get close to the end, unless we rack up a lot of them. That could be handy for saving spots for Season 3 references early on anyway :mrgreen:

Unfortunately it is much too early for that chapter... you're welcome to stalk this place until we get to it, or claim another chapter in the meantime...

FYI we are up to Catelyn V, if anyone is wondering which chapter is next to be claimed. :) Definitely not a boring chapter (okay I lied maybe definitely).

Okay! I just happened to open the book at that chapter and read it when I was bored last weekend....will stalk for that one and try an read some of the earlier ones.....:)

Thanks! Ha, I feel like that I was taking the easy way out doing that scene; I was going to do all the crows in cages but it turned out to be too hard to draw (and a bit gross, but hey).

ETA - Catelyn V is done (and it's not very good. I can have another crack at it if necessary. )
