This has probably been done to death, but not by me so it's new to me.
I'm about 1/3 through ADWD and am finally making my way through the podcast backlog. I'm up to Episode 33, which is after the lengthy hiatus and during the ramp-up to the show. Which is funny, because the show seems to be the impetus behind how many episodes the podcast has lasted. Kind of ironic.
I think 33 is one of the last Chase episodes as well as one of the first Kyle episodes. I don't have a read on Kyle so far, but after going through even 30 episodes so far there are topics that individual hosts are simply not well equipped to discuss rationally or tolerate. Calling them blind spots is probably unfair, because I'm sure the individuals know how bad they are at these topics, or how much they make them rage, or whatever. Nonetheless, I thought I would make a tongue in cheek list of topics guaranteed to make hosts flip tables.
Mimi: Hey Mimi, how do you feel about how well the Dothraki, and Khal Drogo in particular, embody Mongolian culture on the TV show?
Chris: Hey Chris, let's talk about A Song of Ice and Fire.
Chase: Hey Chase, let's talk about swords without you breaking the topic down for 5 minutes as you seriously detail the strengths and attributes of each one and what kind of character bonuses they would give you in D&D.
Nancy: Hey, you're a Mom right? Why are Catelyn and Cersei so terrible?
Amin: Hey Amin, why are you so cool?
That's all I got for now. Add yours, and have fun!

haha, this is ridiculous. and spot-on. i've got so many table-flipping proclivities that it'd take a master historian like brynden to list them all.

Hey Chase, comparing blonde hair to dark brown hair, instead of black hair, can still raise suspicion. I mean, it's close enough right?
Thanks for the pity reply Mimi.

Well, you've just called attention to him now haven't you? Slightly OT: Why can't I get into ADWD?

I must (well, not must, but I will anyhow) confess: I conversationally refer to ASOIAF as "Game of Thrones" with, if not a constant than certainly an expectable frequency. Perhaps because one just hears the words "Game of Thrones" so much more often than "A Song of Ice and Fire", or perhaps because, let's just call a sword a sword-- "A Song of Ice and Fire" is a mouthful. A beautiful mouthful. But still.
I feel kind of bad about it. But not badly enough to stop.
(Apologies if anything has just exploded in the Houston area.)

(Apologies if anything has just exploded in the Houston area.) I'm with you on this, my mom and sister watch the show but haven't read the books, so for convenience's sake I'll either say "Game of Thrones" or "the books". With my dad, who has read the books, we say "ice & fire" But calling ASOIAF "GoT" on a podcast dedicated to ASOIAF is Serious Business.
