So, I am confirmed for attending FFG's Days of Ice and Fire! http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_ ... ?eidn=3892

Looking to see who else is going to the event. We can plan a listener meet-up at the event (Roseville, MN) or outside of it (Minneapolis, MN), probably the latter is easier as it doesn't require attendance of the FFG event.

It's a five hour flight though, I'd have to connect down to nyc or philly and then fly to minneapolis

Looks like that Sunday evening is pretty empty and good for hosting a listener meet-up event (unless there is some sort of Days of Ice and Fire after-event planned)

That would be pretty awesome 8-)

Also, your Pokemon Master Card Game might have given you some transferable skills to take into the A Game of Thrones card game :D

Well we will be celebrating me winning the Board Game Tournament!

The HBO Show will be on Sunday night and some people may have to work in the morning on Monday (I have not worked a Tax Day in 10 years and probably wouldn't be drinking much anyway). Not certain if something Friday or Saturday night might be better?

Roseville has a couple decent restaurants within minutes of the FFG Event Center.

The Good Earth
http://www.goodearthmn.com/

Khal's Dothraki BBQ
http://www.yelp.com/biz/khans-mongolian ... -roseville

If someone wants to organize something Downtown or Uptown, that would open up the options considerably.

The thing about Friday and Saturday is there may be unscheduled socials/after-parties for Days of Ice and Fire, beyond the progression of the tournament if we make it to the later rounds, or win that draw to play with Jason (even if we don't play, it would be smart to watch the game and learn the new rules). That being said, we could probably schedule a late dinner or meet-up for drinks in.

Friday lunch or afternoon is also an option, as Days does not start until the evening (first event I definitely want to attend is the 6pm Q&A).

This sounds like a cool event, and it'd be fun to go and meet Amin! I've been a podcast listener for several months (listened from the beginning of course), and heard mention of this at the end of the last podcast. I've been wanting to join in on the podcast community for a while, so I figure I better jump in now that there's an Ice and Fire event happening near me.

Kahn's is great, and I think easier on the wallet than The Good Earth. And if Mimi joins I'd be interested to hear whether she thinks it's as authentic as it seems.

Cool Jerek.

I just put those two out there cause they are close to FFG. Love to hear some other suggestions.

After looking at Mimi's Hungry Fox blog I kinfa just want to take her out to a bunch of restaurants if she comes.

Anyway Khans has a full bar where TGE is just wine/beer, which might factor in. I thought both would be ok for most peoples diets though.

Khan's seems like a good option

Not sure if we are set on Khans (which I think is a good choice) but I was reminded that India Palace is also (very) close to FFG and deserved a mention

I used my wife's facebook to add the event but wanted to see thoughts about date/time/place final discussions.

Wow this is coming up fast...

I live about 3-4 hours away, seeing what my schedule has in store for me. Would love to come out.

I have a group of friends that play board games. Don't get to play with them often as I used to but we've tried to play the board game. Also have tried the Card Game too. Be very interested in seeing how the board game is really supposed to be played, rather than trying to figure out how to play it. Right up my alley, with all the back stabbing.

If you are planning to attend the FFG event, should register as soon as possible to still be within the first 100 and get the items.

Well, event starts tomorrow, hopefully I can fly in properly.

Listener meet up is currently scheduled for Sunday, looking like dinner meet-up.

Sorry won't be able to make it. Have to fly to San Antonio on Sunday for a site inspection for work. And driving around 4-5 hours there and back really kills my flexiblity. Looking forward to an update on how the event played out.

First day was a lot of fun. Recorded an audio clip (about 10 minutes) with Jason Walden to release in a future episode.

Second day was great as well. Recorded another audio clip with a few podcast listeners, though it was loud around so not sure what the quality was.

Details for tomorrow's meet up (on facebook):
https://www.facebook.com/events/119689078208014/

Sunday, April 14, 5pm-7:30pm
Exact Location: Khan's Mongolian BBQ
Ask for podcast/podcast of ice and fire reservation when you get there.
Post on the wall there (or here if you don't have facebook) that you are coming so we make the appropriate reservation.

House Manwoody finished second in the trivia contest. If it was a written one like it was last year apparently, we would have won. But it was game show style hands up first and we were near the back so they never saw us get our hand up. The winners got a lot of easy points like who was Robb Stark's bride. But we got within one point by getting the ones they and others got wrong (like who nominated Jon Snow for commander). It was fun though, but too bad we couldn't get the full listener group together in one group as we met some guys after it ended.

Please tell me someone had the forethought to bring a camera and then remembered to actually get it out and take photographic proof of this 'alleged' meet up ;p (it stays as alleged until proof can be produced)

:p

oh and well done on the second place - shocking lack of knowledge indeed (NOT)!

The actual dinner meet-up was a bit of a bust because almost no one showed up. But we met listeners directly and indirectly at the Days of Ice and Fire itself and recorded some audio conversation which will be part of a greater Days of Ice and Fire episode (including another short interview with FFG Game Producer Jason Walden). Took some photos there as well, I have to see how they turned out. Going to be busy the next few days catching up on work.

It was cool to meet up with Jerek again and watch Amin eat Dothraki style Kraken and chat ASoIaF. The FFG event was really fun if bittersweet in that we were not quite able to win the trivia contest (needed Mimi for the Dothraki questions and to get the judge's attention ;) )and that we narrowly missed the final table in the board game tourney.
Tons of great conversation. Had a blast.
