Damn it being so close, yet so improbable. Might try to get down there for just that Saturday. Especially since you two will be there.

Though we're sold out of Ravenwood accommodations, if anyone lives a couple/few hours away we still have some options available :)

First, if you live too far to drive there and back in one day (as well as attend the Con, of course) - there is a motel called the Inn Towner Motel in Logan, OH. This is about 25-30 minutes from Ravenwood and according to their website room rates are $45-75/night. It's by far the cheapest hotel/motel anywhere near Ravenwood. My guess is that rates for April are in the lower end of that spectrum, but you have to call to ask as from what I can tell their website doesn't offer a booking engine: http://www.inntownermotel.com/

We're essentially sold out of full weekend tickets, but we of course have the Saturday-only tickets for $30 each, good from 10 AM until 10 PM on Saturday 4/27. We will also be releasing a VERY limited number of partial weekend tickets, which are geared specifically for those who want to game (though you do not HAVE to be participating in the gaming tournament to purchase them). These will be $45 per person and give the purchaser admission on Friday of Con weekend, from 4 - 10 PM, and on Saturday as well, from 10 AM - 10 PM. These should be going up on the website on or just after this Friday, February 8th :)

I'm one of the organizers so if anyone has any questions feel free to post them here, or of course you can always email us at iceandfirecon (at) gmail (dot) com

You'd better cosplay as a maester, man, or no one will believe it's you.

I'm going to be endeavouring my most difficult to date cosplay yet for this con. Let's hope I don't fuck it up and ruin $100 worth of fabric.

Figured it couldn't hurt to post this update here...we are *technically* sold out of full weekend tickets/accommodations at Ravenwood, but sadly one of my roommates can no longer attend Ice & Fire Con…which means that there is a room spot (in my cottage) and a Dragon ticket available. (Again, location and dates are: Ravenwood Castle in New Plymouth, OH from Friday April 26 through Sunday April 28)

Total cost would be about $200-210 and this is practically all-inclusive. It includes full weekend admission to Ice & Fire Con and accommodations for Friday & Saturday nights (you will have roommates, but it’s myself and my friends, and you will NOT have to sleep on a floor - we have a queen bed, a double futon, and a double air mattress - also, at this point I can probably put someone up on Thursday night if necessary as I'll be arriving that day and will be staying in the same cottage). Also included in this total price is a Dragon gift bag, dinner on Friday *and* Saturday nights, and breakfast on Saturday and Sunday mornings (basically the only meal you'll have to worry about cost-wise during the official convention weekend times is lunch on Saturday). You would have to pay the ticket price ($77.63, I think, plus a $20 transfer fee = $97.63) ASAP, but the other $100-ish wouldn’t be due until RIGHT before Con weekend in April :)

Feel free to PM me on here or to email me at taralynne1213 (at) gmail (dot) com if you have any questions/are interested.

Thanks :) To be fair, we are still selling partial-weekend and Saturday only tickets, we're just out of full-weekend ones because we've booked all of Ravenwood's existing accommodations :)

This may be jumping the gun a bit but since this year did so well can we assume there will be a next year?

the problem with Ravenwood is that the location is sold out at under 100. They would need to change locations if they wished to expand.

This is starting to sound like the ultimate ASIOAF slumber party, by which I mean that I DESPERATELY wish I could attend. Alas.

I've done the whole massive group event thing and while it can be fun, I have to say I actually prefer those more intimate and personal events where you can actually speak to people and not have to fight thru crowds and the events are centered around the fans and not the vendors :)

Yup yup, we are already planning for Ice & Fire Con 2014 :) There will be some minor changes (for the better, we think ;) ) but it WILL happen. Likely at Ravenwood but honestly having it in the same place will depend a lot on how things go this year, of course.

We are going to try to work with Ravenwood on this next year. The main issue is that anyone who doesn't stay at Ravenwood WILL have to drive in from outside, and it's not a super short drive either. But we are looking into ways of getting more out of Ravenwood's available accommodations, or possibly even trying to offer a camping option somehow...stuff like that :)

I agree :) That, and if we get to the point where we can figure out a way to have show actors as guests or whatever, it will mean actual one-on-one time with them and whatnot. That's not to say that in the future we won't expand ever/at all...but the problem with that is that we'd probably have to end up holding it at a big conference place/hotel, which not only will take away from the intimacy but also place us in the realm of being just like every other con that is held in a bland, same-ol same-ol location.

Figured I'd post this in here, because we *were* sold out, then we kind of weren't, then we were again...haha. Basically we had a cancellation, the spot was filled, and now we've had two more cancellations...so there are a couple of options open if anyone is interested in attending Ice & Fire Con :)

1) There's a spot in my cottage with full weekend ticket included for $215 total for the entire weekend. I know that's not exactly "cheap" buuuut that rate does include accommodations for Friday & Saturday nights as well as dinner on those nights and breakfasts on Saturday & Sunday mornings. You'll have roommates, obviously, but the cottage has two 2-person beds and I'm bringing an air mattress as well...and right now there's only 3 of us in there for sure, anyway :) Also, if you want to arrive on Thursday night you're more than welcome to do so. I have the cottage that night as well and if you come Thursday it's just an additional $35 (so $250 total for the three nights' accommodations and convention ticket).

2) There's also a *single* Iron ticket available for $100 (full weekend admission with dinner included on Friday & Saturday nights) and a Gypsy wagon accommodation available for $59 a night (about $134 total for the entire weekend) if you'd rather have your own accommodations. Check out our website and feel free to comment here if you have any questions :)

3) We still have partial weekend tickets (Friday access is 4 PM to 10 PM and Saturday access is 10 AM to 10 PM) for sale for $45...these are good if anyone wants to participate in the gaming tournament on Friday & Saturday nights. And we have Saturday only tickets (access that day from 10 AM to 10 PM) available for $30.

http://www.iceandfirecon.com

Right now you can't book/buy the package deal I mentioned in #1 *or* the Iron ticket mentioned in #2 on the website (though you can purchase partial weekend and Saturday only tickets on there), so if you're interested just respond here or email iceandfirecon (at) gmail (dot) com.

As tempting as it is I (we) just have too many commitments this year - but already warming hubby up for next year!

good luck! I'm just trying to keep the world wide interwebz updated when we have random openings...the last one was rebooked by a new attendee within a few days of the cancellation, thankfully ;)

Looks like another full ticket may have opened up. Someone may have grabbed it but you are interested may want to put your name in there in case that deal falls through:

As tempting as it may be it's the flights that are my biggest obstacle - that and too many other things on my plate this year - but next year is a definite!

I am on two panels. One is GOT S3, that should be pretty easy to do, a lot to chat about there. The second one is the one below. I'm thinking about what I want to talk about, got some stuff. If you have anything that stands out from our podcast chat on the subject or would have liked to hear talked about if you were there, let me know (for either panel I suppose).

Panel #2: Game of Thrones Season 3

Description: We're 4 episodes into season 3 of Game of Thrones - how does what's happened so far compare to Storm of Swords? What do you think will happen next?
Notes: We'll start this panel by discussing some of the changes that they made in season 2 - just the major ones, really - as a reminder. Then we'll delve into what has happened so far, compare it to those occurrences (or lack of them) in ASOS, and end by each mentioning where we think they'll go with the second half of the season/how they'll end it in preparation for season 4, which is based on the second half of the same book, of course.

Panel #4: Supernatural Westeros
Description: Sorcerers, Zombies, Dragons, Wargs…oh my! A discussion on the things that truly make Game of Thrones/Song of Ice & Fire a fantasy series.
Notes: A lot of people who aren't fans of the fantasy genre love ASOIAF nonetheless. Are the things that make the series "fantasy" really that subtle, are they simply spread far enough apart as to not be overwhelming, or is it the realistic characters and even surroundings that make them seem more "realistic" (for lack of a better word)? How much impact do you think these supernatural entities - especially the dragons and wights/Others - will have on the outcome of the series? Do you think that in the end it will be the "real" people and not the supernatural that drives that outcome?
