I have some free vacation time this fall and this spring to use. I am considering a trip to Europe at some point. I am not sure when yet. We talked about here whether you would be willing to have a podcast host stay at your place - viewtopic.php?f=8&t=1239. Well it is time to see if that's true as I'm curious who is available and where. ---------------------------------------- Edit: For easier organization, I've made a general file where listeners who have the ability to host us during one of these trips can list their city and rough details (not address or anything, just forum user name + rough hosting details (e.g. is it a spare bedroom, mattress, couch, floor + sleeping bag, etc). We have a free bed at ours but we're not actually in London like Bina and we have a puppy but otherwise the offer still holds. How long are you planning to stay and is it a tour of sorts or will you pick a central location and your vassals will come to you? You could almost argue do you want to be treated like a rock star (tour) or a king (stationary)? lol |

we have a spare room too if needed , we're about 20mins from London by train. If you are about early june I am planning an ASOIAF themed party for my (ahem, mutters quietly,50th) birthday, probably on sat the 7th. Be great if you cd be there  I shall be doing an open invitation to forum members in due course .

I am open to visiting other places as well, but it helps having people who can help show around places (or at least point me in the right direction). It also helps to stay with people rather than hostels, when possible. Other countries in the vicinity may not be out of the question. Just trying to find out who could host me and where before I make my decision. |

Looks like this is most likely to happen sometime in the spring, March 1st to early April. That way I can save the funds for it and plan things out properly. Alternative being sometime in late May and June. I have a few convention commitments in between those times, including Ice and Fire convention. Some sort of london meet-up for sure. Maybe mini meet-ups in other areas during the trip if there are enough numbers. |

I think there is a WIC guy in Holland and a Game of Owns host in Denmark. If you come in Late Spring/Early Summer the weather can be fantastically nice. But most likely depressingly damp. |

OK time to save up money and airmiles for this trip  You know that Ice and Fire is the 3rd online fandom thing that I've been involved and the biggest one so far (in particular considering part of a podcast). However, I have been involved in online communities for Asheron's Call and Age of Kings in the past and I had European friends for both. Unfortunately, those communities have dissipated over the years and I've lost contact with almost everyone, so visiting them is pretty much out of the question. A good friend of mine did just that though years ago, and he had a really good time meeting everyone in person. I've had good experiences with Days of Ice and Fire and Ice and Fire Con, so looking forward to this. |

Ok I really gotta save up starting up now, got a tight budget this year but I want to make it over there. I also got ice and fire con to attend and days of ice and fire to compete as well. Dedicating all my income from collector's edition to ice and fire travel fund

I'll hopefully be moving to London around that time. I would offer but I think with the prices of rent I might end up renting a kitchen with a bed next to the fridge but keep the forum posted on when it happens. Alternatively I live North of the wall at present and your welcome to Visit Glasgow if we're still here and have a spare room
