This is the third time trying to post this write-up today! I can't wait to get the internet back like a regular hu-mon been!!!

Anyway, here is an outline of the quiz on Monday 19th August. Mainly from memory but I'm hoping my fellow Cockneys will fill in the gaps. Don't forget to use a spoiler tag if you want to try it out yourself!

The first quiz on 29th July which I attended had a similar layout but had an extra round based on the Houses. It went as follows and I'm sorry I can't remember many of the questions:

Round 1 - Character Round (5 questions about each character)
a) Arya Stark
b) Jaime Lannister
c) Jon Snow
d) Danerys Targaryen

Round 2 - Houses (As of Season 1, Episode 1 - Name the Lord, Seat, Region and Words)
a) Stark
b) Lannister
c) Arryn
d) Greyjoy
e) Baratheon
f) Tully

Round 3 - Magic
Round 4 - Cast, Crew and Production
Round 5 - Who said that?
Picture Round - Who killed them?

Round 1 - Was fairly easy as we had an "expert" for each character in our team.
Round 2 - The Baratheon one threw us as we wasn't sure if it was Robert or Renly, King's Landing or Storm's End. We went with Robert/KL and got it wrong.
Round 3 - Loads of direwolf, dragon, beyond the Wall and Melisandre questions. Good round.
Round 4 - Quite hard if you didn't know background info on the series. Dates, Locations etc. This is where we lost prime position.
Round 5 -Easy.

The Second Quiz - Monday 19th August 2013
The Character Round
Tyrion Lannister
1. What was the name of Tyrion’s first wife?
2. What line did Tyrion use against the Vale Lords when held captive at the Eyrie? In relation to not being given a Trial by Combat.
3. When he reached manhood, what was Tyrion put in charge of?
4. What did Tyrion say to Jon when they first met to befriend him?

9. Which house has the largest army?
10. Can't remember. Bina? Jed? Ted?

At the end of the night, the quizmaster came over to congratulate us and told us that this was the lowest scoring round but my team scored the most points, 5/10. I'm quite good on film but the round was tough!


The Quotes Round - Who was this said about?
Unfortunately, I can't remember enough of them to make it worthwhile. 10 questions of quotes and you had to guess the character they were referring too.

The third (and final?) quiz is on Monday 16th September. Looking forward to it!

Ah, it's The King In The North (Camden).
Looking forward to it! And now I realise it really is more show than books focussed I'll at least make an attempt to refresh my memory of who plays the minor characters :-) See you there.

Good write-up

Was wondering what the movie round was. Seems dumb. Too much emphasis on the actors and nothing to do with even Game of Thrones, let alone ASOIAF.

Should ditch your friends to team up with the rest of House Manwoody next time :twisted:

They also did this retarded thing where they asked where the Lannisters derived their wealth, and we all said gold, and they said metals, and wouldn't allow gold, and then everyone rebelled!
Also, they asked for the original inhabitants of Westeros but wouldn't allow Rhoynar!

Great writeup and some of the questions are not easy at all - and some are tricky.

awoiaf has named 8 iron islands as are: Pyke, Great Wyk, Old Wyk, Harlaw, Saltcliffe, Blacktyde, Orkmont and The Lonely Light

I'm certain the Unsullied quizmaker looked at a map and counted Harlaw Jr as the 9th Island. Most likely a GoogleImage of the pic Erinyes posted. My team answered 7 islands as I never expected them to include the Lonely Light. It's meant to be a TV show quiz afterall and I'm pretty sure there are only 7 on the opening credits of the show!

Is Harlaw Jr where House Saltwoody and House Rockwoody was founded??

Additionally, as my write-up got deleted twice. Other details:-
- Last place was rewarded with a free round of drinks. The team that came last in every round was called Ned's Head.
- 3rd place won £40 and 2nd place won £70.
- 1st place won £135, a trophy with You Win or You Die inscribed on it AND a free round of drinks.
- All the tables had an Iron Throne print-out with the person who booked its name on it. (My Instagram/Tumblr is: cassiusgren, if you care to check it and the trophy out.)
- My team (Tormund's Member Clubs Seals) got 7 wrong answers out of a total of 65? (Some questions in the Westeros round had multiple points).
- We got the Iron Islands question wrong and one of the quotes, followed by 5 wrong answers in the Movie Round. :cry:
- Team/House Manwoody must have been in the early to mid 50s but finished outside of the top 3. I believe the Brotherhood Without Manners came 2nd but not sure of their points but there was a fair margin between us as the Quizmaster informed us afterwards.
- I vaguely recall that in my drunken state shouting "THE BEARD IN THE NORTH!" after I received the trophy and prize money. No one else took up the cry so the quiz was definitely a southerner affair!
- Jed bought me a shot of whiskey to go with my free drink and I think that tipped me over the edge into Dontos territory.

The website says the 16th October quiz is the final one but my girlfriend emailed to ask and they are doing another FINAL one on October 21st! So don't be afraid to book up again guys.

Bina joked in the London Meet thread about my team being Muggles as they are not as into the series as myself and the Cockney Manwoody.

What's your table name, Bina? We usually get shafted with a crap table and have to move at the last minute, it would be handy if we have another option if no one else is going to sit there. Thanks!

I was going to do another update of the questions for the September quiz but my heart wasn't in it to write it all up.

Safe to say that my team won for a second time and we got another trophy! The team that was marking our answers was quite knowledgeable as they beat us in the first quotes round by 2 points! But then we dominated the last 4 rounds.

It wasn't as popular as previous months as some tables were actually empty! The final quiz is on 21st October and I hope some of you guys can make it.

The pub is doing a Breaking Bad quiz' at the moment but I didn't find out until the first two were all booked up! My team is going to the December 3rd quiz to see if we have a bit more range than GoT.

It appears someone mucked up at Monarch because they are hosting their new set of GoT quizzes in April on the same night that Episode 2 airs in the UK. Apparently, they were going by the US dates. :-|
