If you have any further questions for Jason re: the Board game or questions not covered in the first interview, ask them here.

Got any ideas for speeding the game up? We found it seriously stalled when people were battling/placing orders. Some idiots were hemming and hawing for FOREVER until we literally shouted at them to hurry up! So close to implementing a time limit.

I suppose the obvious; will there be a new POD expansion being tested at Days next year?

Once Winds is released, would they consider making a new edition or just release a Winds of Winter expansion of the game to reflect the latest climate and factions? More specifically, would introducing Dragons and Targaryen/Essos (elephants/sellswords/Dothraki/Unsullied) to Westeros need an overhaul of the entire game?

Are they going to release a "House Arryn tokens, pieces etc." set?

If Jason had to pick 7 characters from the series for his House Cards for House Walden, who would he pick? Characters have to have been alive within the span of the 5 books so far.

We used to use a timer (1 or 2 minutes, I can't remember) that the first player to finish placing orders could start. This works quite well to put those placing more orders (& probably winning) under pressure & cuts down on AP (Analysis Paralysis).

After the epic game we played a few weeks back, we should probably reinstate it.

Amin, I remember from the last interview you had a list of map alterations & suggestions but Jason handwaved it as 'boring'. Do you still have it written down? I'd be interested to see what you were going to say.

Why no crown on oldtown? (nothing on there, compared to all other strongholds) [Why does Oldtown suck?]
Jason: 'Oldtown sucks, somethings gotta suck'

Why the map changes?
-Three Towers was not accessible by land from Prince's Pass in clash of kings [reasoning behind that?]
Jason: Boring :)

The difference I see is that it allows more direct conflict between Tyrell and Martell. Prince's Pass made a nice boundary territory in that way as you could hold that and the boneway and only face a land threat from Dornish marches. If have a deal, both sides could consolidate safely, or even if not peaceful, you could consolidate and cover with a raid, if were higher on iron throne. If Tyrell was going to come at you via land, you could see via a march in Dornish marches.

Now, Three towers is a good place to keep a large reserve army for Tyrell. It keeps your options open to defend your lands or strike against Martell. If you do take Prince's Pass, you can support it more easily out of three towers, so I think the change helps Tyrell more than Martell.

For the first question, I do know that Jason is brainstorming on it, at least for release at the Days of Ice and Fire. I would assume they would make it a POD after that, why not? I told him about our current battle for the north expansion work, but it is too big for something like this, it has to be basically cards only (no more than the # used in AFFC or ADWD). I did suggest Robert's Rebellion variant, or (not entirely exclusively), a variant oriented toward 3 players or even 2 players.

Aye, a 2-4 would be excellent. I still can't lock down a 4th player to play Feast which is driving me nuts! I can only get 3, 5 or 6 player games going.

How many players do you envision for an RR PoD?

I imagine:
2-player - Baratheon vs Targaryen (with ally decks)?
4-player - Baratheon, Stark vs Targaryen, Tyrell?
6-player - Baratheon, Stark, Arryn vs. Targaryen, Tyrell, Martell?

OK Jason is probably joining us for an episode in late November, so keep those questions coming. Specifically related to the variants ADWD and AFFC would be nice, but any board game specific or general questions are nice too.

Had a fun, relaxed record with Jason and Mimi today 8-) Going to take a lot of editing though, lots of call crashes and tech difficulties, but good chats.

What is favourite version of the game to play?

Have they notice in any versions of the games that there are houses that win (or lose) more often then the others?

Favourite other board games?

How can we make a three-player board game become as exciting as a six-player one?

My friends refuse to play with three players since 'it's boring'. And it's very rare we have six ready to play. *sigh

Post subject:  Strategy for Baratheon in the DWD expansion

What is the strategy for Baratheon. In every game we have played Baratheon losses dragonstone quickly and than are either wiped out or have to ally with either Stark or Greyjoy just to remain in the game. They never have the strength on their own and they are to week once dragon stone is lost.

Has this been recorded yet? Anyway, I wonder if FFG is going to release a more simple version of the board game as it is so hard to get people to play because of so many rules and whatnots. Like, in the last three years, it is tiring to explain the same rules to the almost the same players.
Card games are okay, but they are just not the same since you don't really see the movements.

Here's your chance to send questions Jason's way, they don't have to be board game related necessarily if we are out of board game questions, as he is able to answer Ice and Fire questions as well.

But still the best chance to ask about the board game.

I saw this today -

Why were the expansions so low key? No player pieces for the Arryn army?

They didn't have the ability to do anything other than a card based expansions for the existing expansions. I think Jason did a pretty good job given the limitations.

That being said, any future expansions will likely have a little bit more freedom.
