That stinks. Do you have the ability to track it?

Nope :(

Just glad there is some good coming out of this-at least Amin and Mimi get a better cut from the proceeds, but ya the waiting part sucks.

Update: well just got confirmation that my book is due to arrive...Nov 21st! Exactly 1 month and 20 days after ordering, sorry guys but next time I might just go for the amazon listing :(

Update 2: Have bitten the bullet and instead of waiting till mid Nov to find out if I even have a copy I've ordered a second copy off of Amazon UK (using the links from the site of course!) so I just might have a second copy! If that happens I would like to offer it up here to anyone who might decide after the fact they want a copy. Is that ok?

Contest here for people who have purchased the book, you should all enter
http://towerofthehand.com/blog/2013/10/ ... index.html

Quote:
Take a photo of the A Flight of Sorrows - Collector's Edition book. The photo can be of you with the book, the book sitting on your coffee table, the book alongside your A Song of Ice and Fire collection, etc. Anything that proves that you've got a physical copy of the book works fine.

Post the photo on our A Flight of Sorrows Facebook page or post it on Twitter (be sure to mention @towerofthehand in your tweet). If you prefer not to have your photo spread on the social webs, you may email it to aflightofsorrows@towerofthehand.com.
Everyone who purchases a copy of the Collector's Edition is eligible for this contest. The prize may be different if the HBO Shop is not available in your area; however, the cash value of the prize will remain the same.

We will stop accepting entries for this contest on Saturday, November 23, at 11:59 PM ET. The winner will be announced shortly thereafter, after a random drawing. Thanks again, and good luck!

I am pretty certain that there will be future people who find the series and the podcast who would want to purchase a copy of it, yes, they may even show up at one of the future london meet-ups. I ordered a few extra copies myself for that eventuality in my city.

How did you find that out? The customer service of CS wasn't very forthcoming when I tried to send a query.

Looks like I'll be waiting a long ol' time. :(

I got an email to confirm the order and it gave me a ridiculous date of Nov 21st, and then I got a second email saying "dispatched" so I asked why the date was still showing Nov and they said it would still be due then but if I didn't receive it by Nov 23rd I could contact them, but my worry was since it was a limited release I might miss out so I made the decision to order a second copy.

CS was pretty useless actually.

Yes that's cool, just saying it helps when they are local as it doesn't have to be shipped again.

I have a second copy (after I got nervous when CreateSpace gave me a ridiculously long delivery estimate) I am more than happy to sell it to anyone who missed out due to rl getting in the way - PM if you are interested otherwise I hope it's ok to re-list it on Amazon market place or Ebay.

I ordered mine sometime in the last week of October. Might have even been on Hallowe'en evening, come to think of it. It was definitely still October everywhere in North America though. Got an email from Amazon in mid-November stating sorry but they ran out of copies and I would not be getting one, but they would refund to my Visa. :(

Sucks for me, I guess.

VoK did an episode recapping and discussing the new essays, if anyone is interested: https://vokpodcast.wordpress.com/2014/01/11/vok-55-a-flight-of-sorrows-collectors-edition/

Plus, I think the new book comes out in July.

I don't mean to insult the collectible value of this book, but please don't think that's what it is "worth". There are a few sellers on Amazon including the one listed there that just charge nonsense prices for their books. They're just automatically generated prices from whatever logarithms their software uses.

Since it was only available in print for a short time that explains why there are basically no copies available. I've got mine and I'm not selling it, but if I wanted to I would list it at around $50. I think that is closer to what it is worth.

Always remember just because a book has an asking price of X amount of dollars does not reflect it's actual value. Keep an eye on the listing. If that ever sells I will eat my feathered hat.

I wasn't really being serious ;)

As you said, there is some objective standard for book appraisals and it is much closer to $50 than $1000. But if someone does purchase it for $1000, then it was worth $1000 to them, which is still a cause to celebrate. :geek:

I know. I'm almost tempted to buy it to see what happens. I've bought books from some of these sellers before and usually I just get a message saying that "sorry that book is not available, your purchase will be refunded."

But yeah, my reaction is based on my experiences with self-published authors and their insane prices/inflated self-worth.
