I am curious how and when our listeners got into the podcast. Do we have anyone here who has been listening from the earliest episodes? :geek:

Edit: I added the poll for most common podcast listening locations - multiple entries (up to 3) are possible.

I was bored one day and looking for reaction videos to Episode 9's ending and saw Larry's. Thought it was funny and watched all his episode recaps. At the end he gave thanks for the podcast, so I clicked the link and came here. Found out that I very much enjoy them all and have now listened to every episode, and wait everyday for more.

I'm reading the books since early 2010 (yeah, latecomer). When trying to pick up all the theories I came to WiC and TotH (I still don't have the courage to register on Westeros, they are creepy) and I'm pretty sure TotH had an article(?)/post/whatever for the podcast. I gave it a try and after finding out, that I should understand all insider-information I re-listened all episodes. I came to this place later, when you start to mention "the boards" more often I wanted to find out if they are as good as the podcasts...

I have no recollection what I was searching for on itunes when I found A Podcast of Ice and Fire, I'd never listened to a book series podcast before but ASoIaF was my favorite series so I gave it a shot. I feel like I found you guys earlier than this, but the earliest evidence that indicates I was a listener was an email I sent you guys in July of 2009, around episode 28, so I can't claim early listener status.

Amin you could add a poll here:

Where/When do you listen mostly to the podcast (choose 2):

- at work
- at public transportation (train/bus)
- during your sportive activities
- at home
- in the car
- somewhere else

Maybe you find some other options - but that would add to your question somehow.

I found you guys on iTunes after reading the third book during Christmas break 2009. As I'm sure most of you experienced, I put down Storm of Swords and was like "I MUST TALK TO SOMEONE ABOUT THIS!" And since no one I knew was reading the books, I tried finding a podcast. I listened to a few episodes and realized I really should finish FFC first, so I came back after.

I'm a super newb, I've only been around for two weeks!! :D
I was much too young for the previous books when they came out - even Feast For Crows came out when I was 15, and being Australian it didn't get the super publicity the series gets now because of TV show.
And I'm super glad I've found this podcast, as I really really hate my job and need something to distract me. :)
Though I wish I had gotten into the series much earlier.

Google searches when I finished A Feast for Crows.

I got into podcasts by listening to one about The Walking Dead tv show and thought, why not type in:

GAME OF THRONES>PODCAST

At least that is how I remember it.

Listened to the podcasts while working.

I found out about the podcast through the March 2011 article on Winter is Coming. Here's how they described it:

Quote:
birthed from the aching loins of a furious god in March of 2008, this ASoIaF-based hive of scum and villainy is top-of-the-line as far as class goes, with podcasts titled “”Blowing Our Loads,” “Tard Bastards,” “Where Did The Whores Go,” “Lesbians and Dongs,” and “The Crooked Wang Theory.

What can I say? You had me at "aching loins!"

I think it was around episode 28? I just typed in "song of ice and fire" in iTunes and two podcasts popped up. This one and The Ice & Fire Podcast which was way too dry and was never updated. Soooo... you guys won by default.

I AltaVistaed for ASoIaF podcasts and ended up at the Ice and Fire podcast

http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/the- ... d285282017

I listened and liked but they had "host retention issues" so I kept looking and discovered that what I really wanted was base banter and dick jokes.

Spring 2009 - somewhere in the 20's.

Listen mostly at work, sometimes at home if you put an episode out on a Friday/weekend. Occasionally on my TiVo if I am lazy and drinking on my couch which is not a good way to listen.

I picked up the books when I first heard about the HBO show. I think I started looking for podcasts on itunes after I got through ASOS. I started listening to the podcast around January of last year and went back and listened to most of the shows that I had missed. I always listen in the car.

About the time ADwD was coming out actually. I started reading ASoIaF back at 2007 mostly because I needed another saga to keep me busy after the Harry Potter-era and that was when my elder cousin recommended me this. He pointed out that the series wasn't done yet and my reaction was just: "Great, I can go to all these websites and fanbases and theorize about upcoming events, between the book launches then" without realising that George wasn't the regular author just frequently launching book after book and somewhere around 2010 I said: "Eff it, he won't ever release the book" and just tried to forget about the books. When I was informed by a close friend who knew that I had read the first four book, that a release day was confirmed, I just regained my enthusiasm for the series and with a single google search *blam* - I found out that HBO had also adapted the first season into a tv-series.

So I went to iTunes, searched for ice and fire for some inside scoop about the book and there you were.

Sorry i was so chuffed that i forgot to answear the question.
I started reading ASoIaF when i was 12 as my mum picked it up in the shops and thought "oh, Rohan reads fanatasy books i'll randomly get him one and hope its good" but it actully paid off big time. So i sped through the first 4 in late 2007/early 2008 and was shocked to discover that it had been 3(ish) years since Feast was released and that no one knew when the next would surface. So to tide me by this undetermind time until Dance i went on iTunes in April of 2008 to discover if there were any interesting podcasts about it. I chanced upon the Podcast just a couple of days after "Tyrion the catcher" and once i had heard that and found out what "catcher" meant form urbandictionary. I was hooked and happily so. :D

I saw a trailer for game of thrones in late 2010 and found out it was based on a book series. After reading the series and becoming increasingly addicted, I looked for fan sites and found you guys. I thought the other sites and forums were too hard core for my taste, but APOIAF was right up my alley. I listen while doing tedious housework and while driving to school and work.

Been reading the books for a while now. I think I bought Game of Thrones and Clash of Kings on the day that the hardcover for Storm of Swords was released.

Started listening to the podcast about a year and a half ago because I needed something to listen to while at the gym lifting weights.

Ive literally dropped weights almost on myself and others while laughing at various times.

Was probably one of the few fans who really had no idea HBO was making the series until I saw a teaser trailer, think was the raven one on HBO. Went to HBO website to get more info... that led me to Tower of the Hand, then that pretty much led me to you guys...

I found it just by searching on itunes, I'm now slowly making my way through from the beginning!

I started listening when there was around 8-10 episodes, and I've been following ever since. Although I will admit I did start to get discouraged about the fate of the podcast in 2010.

My cousins wife recommended GOT , and i noticed my brother had a copy and asked to borrow it spring time 2011. I thought it was superb and ordered the rest of the books in a box set off amazon when i was halfway through so I could go straight on to COK as soon as I finished GOT. My timing turned out to be great ,'coz DWD came out as soon as I had finished feast, so I got to read the series straight off the bat. I was blown away by the epic and have been obsessed with it since. After finishing DWD , i was hungry for more info , and having deliberately avoided t'internet (my bro having had neds death spoiled by browsing) did a general search and found my way to the podcast , which I found interesting , informative and very funny. I listened from ep1 until the tv reviews , (having missed the show ,being unable to get that channel on my cable, and refusing to illegally download), but recently bought the dvd and so could catchup on the review episodes. Loving the banter and theories , crackpot or otherwise, keep up the great work :D

Hi, community! This is my first post. I'm Alex and I've been listening to the podcast for a little less than a year, pretty much since I've been reading the books. You guys are great and I'm super-pumped to be taking the next step in being a part of this little corner of the fandom

I only started reading the books last November and came across the website through a news update by Westeros.org. To be frank i prefer the podcasts a hell of a lot more than Westeros.org as half the people on there take things way too seriously for my liking. Its the laid back and humorous nature of the podcasts that is a draw to a person who doesn't get the nerdy seriousness that some people have when it comes to exact details in the book and whatnot.

I saw the HBO teaser trailer (you know the one with the ravens) and decided I would give the books a shot, cause I knew I would eventually read or listen to them. Cause I had only heard good things about them. Trueth be told a, few years ago, I bought the Feast for crows audiobook in Boraders cause it was the only one they had and I asked them if the other audiobooks were available and they said that they never made the first three books into audiobooks. So I bought the Feast for crows and started listening to it, Soon I became a little confused as to what the heck these characters were talking about. And what the hell is a hedge knight?
and how dumb is this guy Damphair? Ridiculous. I tabled Feast. So then I decided to give it another shot when I saw the HBO trailer.

To answer the question, I searched for a song of ice and fire podcast on itunes immediately after finishing Feast for crows and found a podcast of ice and fire along with the other one with that one guy and GrrM's podcast. I wish George would put up a new one occasionally.
The first episode I listened to was ep36. feathered hat. enjoyed it so much I decided to go back and listen to all the episodes from the beginning. Ive listened to all of the episodes 2 to 3 times now.

I missed the TV series last year, but picked up the first book last summer sometime.....whipped through all the books(adopted two cats, named one Arya, wanted to name the other Jorah, but my bf insisted on Diablo, silly boy), someone on another site mentioned this podcast and I started listening from episode 1 and worked my way through them all.

I actually have listened to them all twice now. Or most of them, since I bought the DVD and have been able to watch the first season, I went back and listend to the corresponding podcast reviews.

I started reading the books after I saw the first season because I wanted to see what happens next. And luckily that was about the time that ADWD was released or else I don't know how I could have survived not knowing what happens next.

I discovered the podcast about 5 months ago. I listened to the last 3 episodes, but now I'm just trying to catch up on everything. It's great to see what you guys thought about how things would progress in the books and it definitely takes me back to my first impressions on my first read when I had hope for the characters I loved. I was such a "Sansa" back then ;)

Some of the things that stuck in my head were when Mimi says something about us seeing the show on tv before ADWD will be released (and this was at the beginning of 2009) or how she would like to see Littlefinger cornered my someone (and they put that in the first ep of the second season)

I'm curious if there are other Mimi "predictions" further down the line
