As a longtime APOIAF listener, but relatively new forum poster/podcast contributor I feel a little poseurish posting this, but...

My hubby and I just got tix to visit Colorado Aug 13-18 for a show at Red Rocks (woot!). Since I know of at least one Vassal who resides in this part of the country (Alias :) ) I thought I'd put it out there that I'd be happy to meetup! At the least I would love any recommendations for activities, restaurants, brothels, etc. that we should check out while there.

( Of course I reference only the legality of weed in CO and my home state WA, not suggesting it as the point of the moot. The moot point.)

I wish I was there! I love Colorado for a wide variety of reasons :D Hope you guys have fun!

Heyo! I'd love to get a moot going around here if we can get enough interest. I'm not 100% how great the timing is going to be in mid-August because I'm moving back to the city (Boulder) around then, and I don't know how busy I'll be. That said, being in the city is always good for activities.

As for general Colorado stuff, I've only lived here for a couple years and I'm basically a shut-in the majority of the time, so I'm far from a guidebook, but I would just say that if you're around Boulder, the best thing to do is just to wander Pearl Street, and find something that catches your eye. Tons of different options, and cool things to be found, and the atmosphere is just generally great. Same is true of 16th Street + Larimer Square in Denver, though I'm less of a fan of it in general. Those are the areas that I've traversed most frequently anyhow.

I've done even less interesting things in the Frontrange area generally, but I've been to Red Rocks (which is awesome), so getting to see a show there is cool. :) If you're willing to travel a bit, hiking and tubing, and all of that mountain stuff is fun. Skiing is my favorite, but alas, 'tis not the season. Colorado is just generally a beautiful place, and I just enjoy basking in the scenery.

If I think of anything else more specific, I'll let you know. I'll also PM you my personal brothel selections. ;) Just kidding about that last part

If it's Pearl St that brings the shut-ins out, then to Pearl St I shall go! Thank you, I'm not the best tourist, so it helps to have a starting point. If our paths cross I'll happily buy you a glass of dornish red and give you an awkward hug, but no worries if we moot not :P

Purchasing alcohol for underage drinkers and proposing uncomfortable physical contact with internet strangers, for shame! :feathered:

My brother lived in Denver and now lives Glenwood Springs. Colorado is a cool place to live/ visit.

Shew! Not at all tryin to creep! To be honest, I think I'm entirely too shy to moot, and since my hubby isn't a podcast listener he didn't really get it. Mostly i just wanted to use the phrase "Mile High Moot" :D

I haven't been to Colorado since 2002, but just a note that Denver is like the used/collectible book store capital of the United States. There is an entire street in Denver that is basically all awesome bookstores. I remember the Tattered Cover is an awesome bookstore.

Just a note if you need to stock up on some good reads.

My cousins live outside of Denver and I've been looking for an excuse to visit, but I think they'd be offended if I showed up just to meet some people from APOIAF.

I actually just moved to Denver this week! Even crazier, I just went to the Tattered Cover yesterday since it was on my way home and I was curious. Such a huge difference from your standard Barnes & Noble.

I guess I'll need to check out Larimer Square at some point. Hopefully I can find time to do First Friday in a couple of days.

I'm in Denver, would totally be down for a weekend hangout, but weekdays/nights are a bit hectic.

Well it looks like there's a teensy chance this could happen :)
We'll be in town Wed 8/13-Mon 8/18, with only one event on the books (Red Rocks!!!) on Thurs night. We may go further out of town over the weekend, but really haven't done any research yet as to what else we might do. Does the Tattered Cover have a cafe?

Would be totally down to come to Denver for this. :D Would Saturday (August 16th) or Sunday (August 17th) work? Can potentially do a weekday too if that's more suitable.

Can't remember what The Tattered Cover has exactly. Haven't been there in about a year and a half (blasphemous, I know ).

There are locations on Colfax, in LoDo, or at Highlands Ranch. The H Ranch location lists cafe hours, but I have no clue about relative distances or if one of these is THE ONE to go to over the others. I'm thinking Sat morning or Sun evening (they all close at 6 Sunday) just in case we do stay out of town Sat night.

And of course if anyone has other suggestions for a good (all-ages, ahem) place that's great!

Just popped by the Colfax one again and it has a cafe and a pretty relaxed if quiet atmosphere. There's also about a dozen restaurants, bars, and cafes on the street as well as a park and fountain right across so it offers quite a few options.

I can't come up with any real suggestions since I've been in Colorado less than a week so far, haha.

Parks and fountains make me happy :) I'm pretty open, since we'll just be in a rental car and bummin around anyway, but if this sounds like a relatively central place for y'all who are residents it sounds perfect to me!

Alright fellow Vassals, if I show up at the Tattered Cover on Colfax with homemade lemoncakes and a feather in my cap could any of y'all join me? Maybe Sat around 11 or Sun around 3? Times are flexible, just a thought...

Sunday would probably be better for me, but I'll try my best to make any day/time work that's generally optimal. I'm moving into a new place this weekend/getting ready for the semester to start, so everything is a little bit crazy, but I really want to do this!

We have a Moot! Shall we finalize this Sunday at 3:00, cafe at the Tattered Cover on Colfax? I'll make lemoncakes on Sat, if anyone is gluten free or vegan you'll be sorry! If anyone wants my # PM me, I'm happy to give it out. Otherwise I'll be the short brown chick with tattoos and a lip piercing and I'll probably be in a Seahawks shirt, because Go Hawks :D

That might be a risky choice around these parts. The Broncos fans are still salty.

Understandable! It's subtle though, grey T, says "I <3 Sherman" ;) But if you think I'll get my ass beat for it I can skip it!
