Howdy , I have the great fortune to be visiting the good ol' US of A at the end of this month to hopefully fulfil my one remaining ambition in life , to see a superbowl. We shall be in Phoenix for the SB weekend , and then shall be embarking on a road trip for the following 2 weeks , the route of which is yet to be decided. So I was going to ask my Manwoody pals for firstly , advice where to visit, (we've done vegas/grand canyon /Yosemite so was probably thinking more southerly and warm in Feb) and secondly, depending on route and timing , if anyone fancied meeting up, maybe somewhere around Phoenix , LA or San Diego ish? Would love to share a beer with you guys if you are about :D

ALAS I am on the frigid east coast! But if you're road-tripping it, I would have to make the obvious suggestion of George's theater in Santa Fe. (Which is about the only landmark I know of in the southwest, after the GC and that Alamo thing.)

Sounds like a superfun trip! When you get to the SB give the Seahawks my love, I'll be watching for you on the tele!
The Jean Cocteau is a BRILLIANT idea, and that whole area is amazingly beautiful <3

That's so exciting Jed! I'll be road trippin through the west myself but not til this summer. I agree with Michal's suggestions and I plan on seeing the Alamo, Santa Fe and the Grand Canyon as well as Bryce Canyon, Zion, Big Bend, Carlsbad Caverns and the petrified forest & Area 51. There's so much to see and do out there so we mostly went by what was convenient but if There were no limits I'd do the Hoover dam, Vegas, Sedona, Arches, monument valley, canyon lands, Mesa verde... The list goes on and on. Let us know what you pick and pictures please!

Hmm, and maybe the Hawks will decide to go to Disneyland instead of Disneyworld, and you can meet them there!

Mad jelly of all the people who'll be in the region to travel to the Jean Cocteau. At least all the bugs freeze up here in the Gift (upper Midwest).

You are all wrong, for Crazy Uncle Jerry will buy up all of the fouls so that Wonderboy Tony Romo can lead America's Team to the Promised Land.

I'm excited for Jed's trip. I was just about to post that I would be in London on the 31st of January and wanted to watch some football with him. Have fun!

awww that's a shame Eiffel, that wd have been great, next time maybe? I've just found out that the GoT exhibition is in London while I'm away too , most annoying. Thanks for all the suggestions guys, the JC Santa Fe sounds like a good idea, and where exactly is the Alamo? Texas ? Desperate really , I'm sure someone once said I should remember the Alamo. We're flying back out of Phoenix on the 19th feb, so need to consider driving distance/time to get back dont want to spend the whole time driving(on the wrong side of the road) :D

Is there anyone attending Ice and Fire Con 2015 who could meet Jed and collect 2 squash racquets that he might be transporting for me over from the UK to the States? I would then collect them at Ice and Fire Con.

I would love for the one-legged Jolly Rodger to shoot down those birds for us. They are looking unstoppable right now.

no , I'm just a big fan of Mr Rodgers and wd like to have seen him,and I'm quite fond of the pack , owned by the town and all that. anyhoo the packers special team coach has spoiled that for me, well done to the hawks but green bay gave that away., I just hope their luck runs out against the pats :D

The entire Packers team screwed it for you. I've never seen so many things messed up in such a small window of time. The 2 point conversion was the perfect microcosm for the whole game. Easily defendable, but no one was trying because they assumed the Seahawks wouldn't be able to get it done. Not to mention incredibly conservative coaching for 3 quarters that gave the Seahawks an opportunity they never should of had. That game can't be put on the shoulders of one screwed up onside kick.

doesn't look like this is going to happen , shame , wd have been nice to meet fellow manwoodians , thanks for all the input for the road trip , we're going to try to get to the jean Cocteau for the GoT showings on the 17th , but otherwise stay southerly to enjoy the sunshine , San Diego , Sedona , tombstone , El paso / Mexico (I'm assuming we can pop over the border for a day trip ?) are on our list, as well as winslow for a photo op (if any of you ladies drive a flat bed ford come on down!) :D
