I'm glad I got to experience the Ravenwood location before they moved. It is further away for me, but I'm still planning on going and it looks like an upgrade in natural beauty, though southeast Ohio was really quite nice.

I may have to figure out alternate plans to get there, other than flying doing to Columbus and carpooling with KK. Looks like a great location but not that close to accessible airports for me.

It's just under a 6 hour drive for me even though I'm in MD haha. The new location looks great and it definitely looks like it can accomodate all of our needs for the con. Looks like other than Roanoke, the other close (ish) airports would be Charlotte and Greenville.

I was just trying to plan out a trip. It looks like you can take an Amtrak to Roanoke from DC, from there it's a big ?

Looks like Amtrak does sort of go there, if you can get a ride to the place from Hinton, WV which is apparently an hour drive, but is on the Cardinal line that loops from Chicago down to Indianapolis and then back up to NYC. I don't love driving and I hate airports, so I might consider a leisurely train.

Timing's the key there. My wife and I took the train to Texas for some friends' wedding and we ended up going through the Ozarks in the dark, both ways, while we had a beautiful view of the one continuous soy bean field that is southern Illinois.

Still a good trip. And I gather the Ozarks are a fair amount like the mountains in Upper Michigan I grew up with, though a little bigger. It's not like I missed the Rockies.

Yeah, it was obviously in the air. They clearly didn't feel good about turning people away at Ravenwood and having some people have to stay off site.

For the Midwesterns, it appears there are direct flights to Blacksburg from Chicago-O'Hare.

After thinking about it, I really don't want to fly and rent a car. Goes from a fun weekend to an expense/hassle. I'll either drive or not go or least likely fly to DC or Pittsburgh and bum a car off of family for the 5 hour drive.
I am curious about Amtrak but have never done it.

I know that from Baltimore to DC is a $12ride and the Baltimore Amtrak station is attached to the airport there if a flight into BWI is cheaper than DC. Just a thought.

According to the video tickets are going on sale much earlier this year, within the month. Should we start planning a House Manwoody central lodging or everyone just go for whatever they want? The property looks real nice. I'm cool with reserving a cabin or something and then just filling it up with people afterwards.
