Okay, Podcasters, two things. 1. What part of the body do you think is the loins? I mean, when you see a loin roast in the grocery, what do you think you are looking at? 2. Why is it that you think aching loins would be a good thing? |

They are referring to Catelyn II of AGOT (http://www.towerofthehand.com/books/101/007/index.html). Catelyn just had sex with Ned and mentioning her "aching loins". She does that quite in a positive way, because she has the hope to conceive again. So in terms of aSoIaF the aching loins are with quite positive connotations because there could never be enough Stark children. |

In the given AGOT context I'd place it as inner thighs. I'd guess Ned is a missionary-style guy, and Cat's loins are aching because he was really giving it to her. |

Interestingly, a loin in a cut of meat tends to be the muscles along the spine. The tenderloin being the innermost and generally most expensive. Cat's loins are deep inside her. Although seriously, I thought her ache was more of an "aching for more" kind of thing.. |

I hope you know it was also disingenuous on my part. I'm the last guy to cast aspersions on Ned's character. |

I'm still holding to the belief that the Winter would bring out the wolf in Neddard. I feel bad for Cat now that I think of it :I P.S: Also, "Winter is Coming" yeah yeah funny I get it , but could it actually mean that Winter IS the time for intimate affairs up in the North or at least House Stark? I mean , a true comedian must be able to say a joke with a straight face and Ned's is described as such. It could simply be an age old inside joke as they laugh at the southrons and the dornish who think they are all sexually liberated and whatnot but Ned knows what's up. I dare propose that it's not that Winter is coming so as to dread the season, but that it IS the Coming ITSELF. Dare I back up this theory with the Voyueristic potential of the Heart Trees, or oh oh a "Stark Must ALWAYS be in Winterfell" which means they MUST have children. No exceptions. Perhaps we will learn more of this Northern way of life when Dunk and Egg head northwards, and the reasons for why a castle in such a cold place is always 'in heat'. If not that then it'll be revealed in the ToJ\R+L=J\Mors Manwoody POV in TWoW P.S.S: Plus, Ned beat Arthur Dayne. Therefore "Winter is Coming" beats out the Starfall house pun of "Sword of the Morning" (pretty clever on their part I must hand it to those southrons) in terms of lasting power. His is the biggest. Canon. |

after being raised from the dead... Cat. I'd still tap that undead biatch though. I'd gladly make her mouldy loins ache all over again... So the follow up question, brynden, is: What is more fucked up: Cat, this thread or me? |

i think loins are in the groin/lower abdomen area , but i was under the impression that you had "aching loins " when you wanted sex , not after. And as ronnie barker says in "porridge" (searched for the clip but couldnt find it ) that feeling you get when your dreaming of your girlfriend , well thats where your loins is |
