He could not let the killings go unpunished. Farlen was as likely a suspect as any, so Theon sat in judgment, called him guilty, and condemned him to death. Even that went sour. As he knelt to the block, the kennelmaster said, “M’lord Eddard always did his own killings.” Theon had to take the axe himself or look a weakling. His hands were sweating, so the shaft twisted in his grip as he swung and the first blow landed between Farlen’s shoulders. It took three more cuts to hack through all that bone and muscle and sever the head from the body, and afterward he was sick, remembering all the times they’d sat over a cup of mead talking of hounds and hunting. I had no choice, he wanted to scream at the corpse. The ironborn can’t keep secrets, they had to die, and someone had to take the blame for it. He only wished he had killed him cleaner. Ned Stark had never needed more than a single blow to take a man’s head.

"A pity Ned Stark had taken his daughters south; elsewise Theon could have tightened his grip on Winterfell by marrying one of them. Sansa was a pretty little thing too, and by now likely even ripe for bedding. But she was a thousand leagues away, in the clutches of the Lannisters. A shame."
"Only a fool humbles himself when the world is so full of men eager to do that job for him."
"Bran looked away and pretended not to have heard, but he could feel Greyjoy’s eyes on him. No doubt he was smiling. He smiled a lot, as if the world were a secret joke that only he was clever enough to understand."
"The head bounced off a thick root and rolled. It came up near Greyjoy’s feet. Theon was a lean, dark youth of nineteen who found everything amusing. He laughed, put his boot on the head, and kicked it away."
Such a sympathetic guy.
I've always kinda equated Theon with Eli Cash from the Royal Tenenbaums. not exactly a sympathetic character (though i do like Theon and appreciate people who sympathize with him) but not exactly a bad guy either. just someone extremely doubtful of himself and constantly trying new ways to be included.
I found that if I pulled my earphones slightly out of the iPod/computer jack, the two sound sources would join together in stereo. It was much easier to listen to that way. Otherwise, a good episode. Short, but sweet. I did miss Mimi though.

I most certainly showed a shacking lack of knowledge in this episode. I didn't remember the Farlen killing at all. I guess seeing the killing and reading the killing put different tastes in my mouth. It's certainly difficult to stand up for Theon. I don't think he should be stood up for, he's done some horrible things, but I can't help, but feel bad for him. Even here he wishes he could have killed Farlen quicker. A very small amount of regret, but there none the less.

Index, I may be mixing up guest hosts here, but on the call in ADWD episode, weren't you sympathizing with Theon?

Kyle, you were drunk, it's okay. Sometimes we drink liquor and we say regrettable things.
Whatever, Kyle was on fire. Had me laughing through the episode.
Also, put me down as a Theon sympathizer. He's tragic.
tragically in need of a flying elbow smash to the face!

I don't know what's more shameful, the fact that MLP is an acronym you feel like you don't have to explain, or the fact that I figured it out without any research.

I completely forgot about the Farlen thing, but yeah Rodrik was just switched in huh. Though whether for S.L.O.K. or not, I had the same gut reaction to that scene at first. It's keeping track of the character sympathy levels bein' rerouted each week that makes me hemorrhage at times as it screws with my memory of the books ;__;. Awesome scene though.
I hope Littlefinger and Arya dont end up going down a new TV storyline path where he's got something to do with getting her to Braavos :I. Maybe he'll teleport there too. Oh shi- maybe he'll ALSO be master of coin for the Iron Bank, no need to recast- er..budget- I mean fudge it I mean-
I don't know if I dream about it but the podcast might help keep me sane when it comes to da Hound, since I get blank...no apostatical stares when casually addressing the points brought up this ep . Beric might still fight the Hound next season, but they'll probably pack in three times the badassness for both men to make up for them like the riot scene who let-the-dogs-out thus ---> Mortal Kombat style Raining Cats and Dogs, but it might not rain cats because they killed The Tickler and Arya won't take that nickname because then HBO viewers would confuse Arya with Lady Stoneheart ..ah shit what if Yara and Arya will team up in season 7.
Though I like Hound's actor, and how he explodes guts ... it's just all too funny because he's so unforgettably human in the books. It'd be interesting to know who the favorite characters are of the writers on the episodes, and David Benioff, and David Benioff Weiss, since there's so much subtlety to each POV.
FIRE AND BLOOHD. When blue-beards start taking mental priority over story time with Barristan, that's where I draw the line. Though I don't mind Dany when I think about how she's gonna be married to her work instead of a man it seems. I don't like the fire-breathing demeanor at face value, but - if I was going through all these different lands and adapting to different cultures I know that nothing would be more of a slow burn than the struggle to keep remembering who you are and what goal you're procrastinating on. Most fans like Jon Snow even though he can come off like a block of salt at times, but commanding the Wall was never sitting in his head as a birthright like the idea of conquerin' westeros w/ dragons. While exciting, that's super stressful. Not to mention a head full of prophecies. When I think of it that way, no wonder she tries to ease the transition to her goal by appeasing to all these bozos, and escape from it via dat Forked Blue Beard. So for the show in this aspect, if it makes it as far as ADWD storylines, the compression of the Meereen arc through the TV-funnel (plot, plot, plot ->plot,emotion,emotion) might make for a better version via a blaringly annoying Dany denying the goals she's set for herself. FIRE AND BLOOHD> Politics and schemes, any day of the week. She's gotta kill the boy inside!!! and if she mistakes it for Daario then well, that's np.
Like show-Sansa at first, the age changes do have their effects ,er - She's still annoying. Now if the math adds up TV-Sansa's mental maturity will skyrocket because of her close call with the rape zone leading her to burn two or three beds next episode and have a mean poker face by by the time Cersei calls her for supper. Via the same equation, Dany has around 3 seasons until she shits herself so hard all that's left is fire and blood. I hope that's the first thing she says after such a baptism. So yeah , Queen of annoyances. But not when she's got dark hair, course.
wtf how did this podcast ep get me to start thinking about Dany.

the content of the episode is good (kyle: theon kills also the wildling that want to kidnap bran in AGOT)
BUT
the audio was not so good, some things i didn't like: - the amin on my left ear / kyle and ash on my right -> not so good. i'm used that i have you on both ears. that makes a difficult hearing experience... - the clicking - what the hell was that? - ashley mumbling - sometimes (not only in this episode) one of you is much quiet. and if you make it louder overall - the others crush your ears
Audio will back to normal when I get back on my main comp. I also have a program to level out the audio but again don't have access to it here.
Clicking was Ashley, blame her Mac.

there was something not right with my settings and since we had a time limit i didn't want to start fumbling around with everything. i also work overnights so most episodes, especially GoT ones where we can't pick and choose our record days, i'm just waking up 5 minutes before we record and running out the door as we wined down so i'm not also at my most enthusiastic.
Yeah, I'm gonna have to wait until I get home to listen to this on real speakers instead of at work on my headphones. I need one ear free to listen for coworkers that need me, and the jumping between ear pieces really throws me. Also that thumping noise was pretty bad. Sorry guys, I know you're probably working on it, but right now I cannot listen to this.

Me too, would have been able to listen if it didn't swap sides.
Glad you got the episode out, even if the audio was off a it. I only listen with one ear bud in at work, so I was really confused at first, because all I heard was Ashley.

I listened to this drunk and playing FF6 so it sounded fantastic to me.
"Don't tease the Octopus, kids!" - Theon
You level up Ned like mad in King's Landing, and already unlock all his Hand of the King techs with only 40 minutes clocked on the game. Then you're stuck with lvl 6 Arya, and lvl 0 Hot Pie (which you neglected to level up earlier...) and for the next 4 books it's playing that damned World of Ruin song. That's A Song of Ice and Fire.

Respect to MikeFromBraavos for bringing up Theon's messy beheading---I was screaming at my dashboard in frustration as I listened to the podcast on my way home from work. Good result: it inspired me to check out the forums!

As noted by Careless, the final audio file was in stereo this time, kind of an unintentional experiment.... How did you find it?
Listening to this in the car, I had Amin's voice spawning from my left foot and Ashley's clickity-clacking coming from the right side of my dashboard, making me think my car was about to break down. It was not pleasant

Did anyone catch that Ashley said the commoners in King's Landing looked emancipated...not emitiated? REALLY FUNNY!!!
Ha, I did catch that! I was thinking she'll soon be right when Tyrion emancipates them from their hovels along the river bank!
