Didn't start listening to podcasts at all till early this year. A search in iTunes one day brought up aPoIaF, so I tried it out. First time listening, I was not impressed. It was one of those episodes that lacked focus and direction -- not a TV recap, not even much of a theme. Almost lost me at hello. But I guess I figured, anyone who loves the books as much as these folks do deserve a 2nd chance... and the 2nd time blew me away.

We certainly have a wide range of episodes as far as quality is concerned. Thanks for sticking with us.

Believe me, I'm glad I stuck around. I've sampled a few other GoT podcasts, and one of those I still listen to... but yours I enjoy the most.

I always listen on the subway on the way to work, and on the way home. It's awkward laughing out loud in front of people, but hey. Sacrifices.

UsurpationBlitz kinda scares me... but he has the redeeming quality of being a big fan of Howland Reed (judging by his comments on a few other topics).

I've been listening from the very first podcast, though I think the quality has gone up in the last couple of years.

After watching the HBO Game of Thrones I found out there were books so I picked them up. And went through the first 3 when I thought to ask how many books were there? and that is when I got sad and excited because the next one was coming out soon. So I picked up your podcast to kill the time in between. Started from episode 1 and been with you ever since. Stalk the forums for awhile until i got the nerve to finally join and post. And at work and on my long drives and when I work out which i find weird I might stop that.

I started reading the books when the HBO show was announced since I am the kind of person that has to read the books before watching the tv show/movie. I also have to confess that I was like, boycotting them since a douchebag ex LOVED the books and was pretty pushy about me reading them while we dated. Anyway, I was a big fan of Rome, The Wire and Deadwood, so I figured that the books had to be pretty hardcore for HBO to make a show. The books obviously are amazing!

I came to listen to the podcast after obsessively reading a whole list of theories on Reddit a couple of weeks ago and discussing them with my friend Dave. He said that I'd really like the podcast and since I spend most of my summer alone (my friends and husband aren't teachers) I've listened to the podcasts all day since school let out. Which is like, really awesome because the podcasts are super entertaining, but also a little weird because I spend the whole day cracking up but I'm by myself? Yeah.. I swear I'm not a creeper!

Don't worry, grad school starts up this week, so I'll get out of the house during the day a little bit more. The podcast has definitely been really great to have.

About a year ago, as the show was getting underway. I quite like the episode recaps and the men/ladies night out but some of the other podcasts I found a bit dry, especially the chapter recaps *ducks*

I came to ASOIAF in early 2010, when I heard HBO was set to make a series (The NYT greenlit article caught my eye.). I read the first four books in two months and consider myself a book fan first. I have even succeeded in hooking my wife on the series.

When Season 2 was greenlit, I wanted to start to expand my knowledge of the fan community. While I do post under this handle at WiC, Tower of the Hand and Westeros.org, something was still missing, namely long, ramblingly awesome geeked out conversations about the books/show in a podcast format. Hence I was brought to APOIAF in roughly March, right before Season 2 and have remained a loyal listener ever since.

Wow, this is almost exactly like my journey through ASOIAF fandom, except I read a post about the books on the literary/culture blog This Recording and that made me pick up AGOT (I really liked the War-of-the-Roses-meets-Lord-of-the-Rings angle). I've gotten my parents and boyfriend into the books/series and probably some of my friends due to my incessant Tumblr posts about it.

I started listening to the podcast early this year to liven up my (HELLISH LOS ANGELES 405 FREEWAY NIGHTMARE) commute. I really prefer this forum/community to all the other ones out there. Everybody's so much more chill. (If there was a smiley of a dude smoking a joint I would use it here.)

I started listening to the podcast when I was working in the yard or around the house. Now I listen mostly while actually working.

I said in my Introduce Yourself post (a year ago) that I thought I started in 2009. That would have been based on when I got my iPod and started looking for podcasts. I recently found the mp3 player I had prior to that and it had episodes on it. Maybe it was even earlier. I just remember that I was going crazy thinking about SOIAF all by myself and the podcast was one of the first things I found when I started looking on the internet for other fans.

Anyway, I've been listening a long time, off and on. I stop for a while, then get to enjoy a marathon session getting caught up again.

I'm probably too old to get such a kick out of listening to you kids "discuss" this series I love so much, but so be it.

I've been listening to the podcast for about a year now and this is my first visit to the site and forums

I started reading ASOIAF mid 2010. A third of the way through ASOS I had learned that HBO was making a show. So I was pretty pumped that I was already tracking my way through the series before there being a show so I could finally claim that I was a book reader first on a series.

Early last year I wanted to see what other people were saying about the stories, characters, and unanswered questions so I hunted down forums. It was through them that I then found the podcast and I thought "This will be awesome to listen to on my drive to work!" It was and is!

I'm a latecomer :D I think I came acoss your podcast name few months ago, mentioned in some article on Westeros or so. By that time I've read all the books, talked with all my friends and were just searching for some new ways to prolong the pleasure ;). I decided to check you guys out, which was a rather big step for me, 'cause I've never listen to any podcast before. But since I only quite recently discovered I even like audiobooks I thought I'll give it a try :). And I'm with you ever since. Later I've also tried one another podcast I found on Itunes about ASOIAF, but it was terrible.
So there you go. My first and to these day only podcast

As to the poll - I listen while traveling (but not when I'm driving) and at home :)

Hmm don't think I ever posted in this one

it was a little over a year ago I had finished all the books (ADWD wasnt out for a few more months) and D'n'E and for two months or so I spent a lot of time reading on Tower of the Hand since I had no friends and no one to talk to about ASOIAF. So basically I kept seeing that image of the chibi-looking hosts stick out like a sore thumb on the TotH main page and it kept bothering me (why does that guy's headband say evil? what's the story behind that? what kind of name is Mimi?) until one day I just gave in and checked it out.

To my relief , no one had apparent down's syndrome and the podcast became the butter to my bread when working (like on ASOIAF-related things for instance)

I don't really like bread, but I like the podcast.

Still I really think Bert is having ASOIAF novel there and that's just how everybody looks while reading

I just found this place via towerofthehand.com. I'm starting from the beginning and have made it through 3 episodes...and I LOVE it! I wish I had found this earlier. I drive about an hour 1-way to work everyday and am looking forward to catching up. I find myself constantly wanting to interject my own opinions in the conversation...

Found the podcast when I first started reading the books in January but didn't start listening until I finished Feast. I caught up to the release of Dance and then had to stop listening until I finished it. I'm all caught up now and thats when I decided to start posting on here.

Winter is coming link after season 2 finale. Have been listening to the voted "best episodes" since.

I have been reading the books since high school (2003?)-- had no idea the depth of the fan community. I guess I should have known because I knew the books were at least somewhat successful, and the nature of the story is one that everyone can dive into.

I did not even notice the long delay from AFFC and ADWD until five years had gone by. I had always remembered the series every few years and looked for a new GRRM at the book store, and at one point there was no new books after AFFC, and I did not really think more of it until years later.

After I learned about all the controversy about the delay, I actually became more interested in the series even though I had already read all of the books. After I found out about the HBO show in entertainment weekly, I got pissed because then I could never make my own awesome series of movie adaptations in Hollywood. After the show came out it was all downhill and now I am obsessed. This awesome podcast is not helping the situation.

After watching season 1 I read the books. Very addicting. However, I got to the Red Wedding and was so pissed I kind of zombie-read A feast for crows and didnt really absorb it. Not sure if I was just sour on it or if it was really boring. Anyway, watched season 2 and got back to Dance with Dragons, which I enjoyed. I dont really have a chance to discuss the books or TV show much so I was looking for an online community, and this seemed to be a good one. I started listening to the podcasts and I really like them. Funny to hear some of the pre- HBO show comments. (Christian Bale as Ned??)

I started reading the books to maintain my sanity between series 1 and 2 of the HBO show and jumped on them like a monkey on a cupcake (I am just finishing up ADwD). I found the podcasts a little after that. After listening to Episode 68 : The Return of Mimi I was hooked (I was sitting in a church yard, in the shade, cackling like a lunatic - I can only wonder what people though!).

Where else on the net could I find another more shockingly rude, crude and thoroughly hysterically funny group of deviants!?!

I fit in perfectly! Oh and Mimi is my idol! (blatant flattery is always acceptable I assume)

Was dicking around on youtube and found larry's hillarious reaction video to Baelor. Decided to watch all his reviews and he mentioned the podcast a few times. I was halfway through the series then and knew the podcast was spoilers galore, so I waited until i finished the series beforehand, and, obviously, loved it XD

I started reading the books and was hooked, did a re-read and then did a listen (narrated by Roy 'Blackbeard' Dotrice). Obviously the next step was to listen to people discuss it, so I did a google search and heard about you guys. For the past few months I've slowly worked my way through the episodes and have loved it.

I started listening to the podcast a few months ago, maybe back in April or May. There is another podcast that I like (more GoT than ASOIAF) but they don't post new episodes that often and I was looking for more!! So I found you after doing a search for "song of ice and fire podcast" on google. You had good reviews, so I subscribed! I spend the summer listening to old episodes. I'm almost all the way caught up.
