First I like it when old topics are brought up - something to discuss again Are you maybe confusing anything - aCoK was adapted by Season2 - aSoS is the book that is coming up now... And I also can not see them pulling off the whole series - it is just an extreme task and it is NOT getin easier or cheaper. Other shows have the big advantage that somewheer after the 4 season all characters (and all locations) are known and established and occasional crew-additions can be handled easily. But aSoIaF will never get there - they will have to expand the story, the cast and the locations (or butcher the story). And GRRM does kill lots of his characters, but since aSoS no really big name in Westeros got killed... The interview with B&W was before season 1 was released. And they said: "When we get the RW we will die lucky." But that is totally understandable: As "young" show-runners a horizon of 3-4 seasons (when S1 was not out) seems really far away...

Knew which book I meant, just typed the wrong abbreviation. And I am loathe to number the books. So thanks for the correction.

But that is totally understandable: I've bet they've talked about the Red wedding in a hundred interviews, but I was referring to something they said 2 comicon's ago. Game of Thrones first Comicon appearance and after the first season had aired. I remember because I was there. My first comicon and my first big panel and I was nerding out in the audience.

Oh you didn't know? The few of us got to read a limited special edition of A Dance With Dragons

I think some will go and try to 'start their movie careers' like actors always do from tv shows (even HBO) to movies. To GoT's advantage, I think, is that they only shoot for a few months of the year -- and many actors only needing to be present for a few weeks of that -- so it doesn't prevent any of the actors from going out and doing something else during the rest of the year. Broadcast network shows that shoot most of the year and leave only the summer for other projects are far more likely to loose cast members over the course of a several-years run. Also to GoT's "advantage" for not having to recast: a high character death rate.

Not much, had one rather disastrous playtest, and listened to the Mike Mearls/Penny-Arcade podcasts, but I'm still sending most of my paycheck to paizo. I was dumping her on you because she's in Duluth and I have a Texan's disdain for distances in smaller states.
