Just started listening - Great so far!

Questions, Comments, Testimonials to the majesty of House Manwoody?

i09 article

Salladhor Saan is Lysene, who tend to have fair skin. BUT, his skin color was not specified, and could presumably be cast as anyone.

The same applies to the Qartheen - they are called the "Milk Men" by the Dothraki for their complexion, but XXD's is not specified.

But considering the size of the tv cast, there's really even less of whatever excuse Hollywood uses to not cast PoC, not that the show producers likely care.

I'm still not finished and enjoy it a lot already, but I remembered some post a while ago in the "introduce yourself" topic:

I figured it was a certain former member of the Fantasy Football league as well...

You mean the sound clip at the *very* end? That was only a one-off usage. Now we'll see who can identify what that was, given that tDUCK was discovered so quickly

One of the best games ever and really the evolutionary precursor of the Total War games. I should have worked that clip in earlier though, during Mimi's long absence earlier this year, it would have fit the theme better

About the heart tree: pretty sure there's a regular tree in the kingslanding gods wood that has a face carved into it.

great job on another canadian edition + kyle guys! cosmia was insightful and charming as per usual, and i know i know, i always bitch about the shocking lack of mimi, but i have to give credit where credit is due, you guys did a great job without her this time. props to kyle for being on point bringing the knowledge and enthusiasm. ashley did a great job representing some royalty as queen beyond the wall. and amin's voice was totally fine despite his precautions. i personally enjoy these types of episodes where its just the hosts and a forum member as i think you guys relax a little more and show more of your personalities (especially the canadians).

@kyle what happened to your bro tduck? he doesnt appear to be active on the boards anymore?

@ all the hosts: i would personally like to make a request that you have steven aka vikingking on for chapter re-read discussions and also discussions of his essays @ his racefortheironthrone blog. i think he has a lot of historical/political knowledge that could really spark good discussion and would be a fun listen.

thanks

I thought the episode was great. Always good to hear Ashley telling it like it is in her area of expertise.

Today I thought about another great name for our Queen beyond the Wall: The Mummer's Queen. Not in a disrespectful way, but because of her cosplaying-hobby. But Queen beyond the Wall is also great.

And gsdg: IT IS her area of expertise. Since episode 1 Ashley is constantly talking about SanSan.

I could be wrong, but I read Alias' post as "telling it like it is, in her area of expertise." I don't think it was intended to disparage Ashley's SanSan expertise.

No I didn't think so either. No one would question Ashley's knowledge of SanSan related stuff.

I agree with jesicka here. From my recollection of the books ALL the heart trees in the south are gone. They still have godswoods but they are more of a formality than an actual full godswood complete with heart tree.

I put Sansa's description of it down to her being more devout to the Seven and being scared/paranoid from that letter (and rightfully so). No Blood Raven here.

I'm a big fan of more frequent shorter episodes. Really liked this one - kind of like a little APOIAF fix. Plus it helps us move forward with the re-read.
