Being in a respected profession yourself, you undoubtedly understand that some of the more conservative professions demand a very strict line between personal life and work life. I think listeners would prefer me keeping that boundary rigid in regards to personal details, rather than risking problems for my work life and the posible need to resign from the podcast. I am always open to meeting people at meet-ups like the Vancouver convention, but I have to be careful with my online presence.

I think with Zombiecat, as Thoros says, is that she was dead WAY too long. It's one thing to bring them back within minutes or hours, doctoprs do that all the time, another thing to do it days later when their body has started to rot, they've lost significant amounts of blood, and their brain has shrivelled up from lack of oxygen.

Hell she's been dead long enough she's probably started actually rotting! And Beric lost more and more of himself as time went on, he just lost different parts. She lost her personality, her morality, her compassion. He lost his past, his certitude, his passion.

Ashley is uncommonly correct in the first few episodes. She's on another level from everyone else. Clearly a red priestess. I almost don't want to hear her modern predictions (OK, I ABSOLUTELY want to hear them) because she's insanely right most of the time.

BTW: Since Linecom1 hasn't made a review lately, I would be glad to do a few, as I am listening to these anyhow.

personal note- this is a unique episode in which I would absolutely recommend being able to follow along online to the various cover arts they critique. much more enjoyable that way.
alot of the funny moments from ths episode come with the combination of looking at the picture yourself along with the podcasters' comments. i think alot of the jokes and snarky remarks are lost if not actually looking at the covers along with the hosts.

highlights:

game of thrones covers:

-the 2002 bantam cover has a dude that's supposed to be jon snow but looks way too old.....

-uk cover has some 'queen' on the front that could be dany or cersei or neither

-bantam arc cover appears to be the eerie with a falcon sigil with maybe catelyn, dagger in hand, and the blackfish ( what a random cover)

-meisha merlin cover: mimi "guys you gotta check out this fantasy series, its horses........and land.......and water........" lol

-chinese covers: ash1 "which ones are the chinese ones?", mimi " the ones that say chinese above it" lol

-you can hear aaron's girlfriend brushing her teeth, which is actually more interesting than this episode.

final thoughts:
-this episode is tough to rate because of how often it drags and becomes very formulaic. i tend to rely on these podcasts while i communte which means i'm not always at a computer. so it makes the format of following along kind of tough. it seriously took me over 10 attempts to do this episode summary b/c i often got bored and moved on to other things. this episode is one of the main reasons why this thread was stopped such a long time ago.

Final Rating:
1/5 manwoodies.

With just over one year between recaps, Linecom1 is on an even slower pace than the hosts' ongoing chapter reread.

I agree that this episode necessitates viewing the actual covers.

-chris really finds a way to take an interesting topic and beat it to death to the point that its no longer interesting. (ie. discussion of littlefinger)
-lol aaron so does not care about this podcast.
-every time Aaron says "OHWM".
-snipe hunting joke (1985 wants its joke back)

final thoughts:
-definitely an episode for newer listeners. alot of cliche topics covered.
-great idea and range of topics but due to chris this episode really tended to drag.
-by far the best part of this episode is the last 10 minutes where hosts STOP BEING POLITE, AND START BEING REAL: THE REAL WORLD "HOUSE MANWOODY"

summary: the very first girls night out and the response to the previous installment of guys night out 1. this is really the episode where to me, Mimi becomes a star. like laugh out
loud, find that spot on itunes and replay that hilarious shit star.

highlights:
-mimi claims the female half of the crew is the better half (understatement of the century)
-mimi isnt sure what the guys could have talked about during their episode but guesses it was probably erectile dysfunction (SEE WHAT I MEAN) lol
-discussion of the women of westeros:
-how they all hate catelyn.
-apparantly mimi thinks catelyn chapters are boring. (personal note: i agree some aspects of catelyn are annoying, and for real the whole war was HER FAULT, but i never found her boring)

ps. i dont go out of my way to point this out to be mean and negative, but if someone i liked used a pejorative term towards asians constantly it would really disappoint me and give me the impression that that person was incredibly ignorant (and we all know ashley1 is the furthest thing from being ignorant or mean). i can only imagine peter dinklage listening to one of these episodes....hearing that word, and then turning it off. if i was mistakenly using a term that was incredibly offensive i would want a friend of mine to point it out to me so that i would stop.


final thoughts:
-it was diffucult to not have a smile on my face throughout this episode; partly becuase of my creepy attraction to mimi, but also because it was just a damn good episode; a fun listen
filled with laugh out loud moments. every thing you want from a podcast.

-this episode was funny for the same reasons a guy can watch a sex adn the city episode and laugh, or a 31 yr old male doctor can watch my little pony and laugh.

-great editing from ash1. in my opinion is prob the best editor of teh crew. keeps teh junk out and hte quality in. tight adn succinct episodes.

In defense of Ep 6: Maybe it is just my masochistic Catholic upbringing but I think this is a MUST listen episode. It is not consistent or particularly accessible and it feels like it is about to completely run out of steam at multiple points BUT in all it's dysfunctional glory it is quintessential APoIaF in my opinion.

In defense of The Real Chris: I get that "racist" jokes are part of the bit but I think it best to tread carefully. There are mimi pro-rape jokes and paedophile jokes too but I think these are normally best left to the professionals. My $0.02. #standwiththerealchris

it def. took me a while to understand the unkind nature of that word as well. its tough to be judged by stuff constantly from the past and i dont see the need to bring it up anymore.

as far as chris, i assume anyone who's heard the episodes ive reviewed, especially mimi's part aobut chris would understand the facetious nature of it all......especially the 'hes racist' parts. i think mimi does a good job of putting enough context (ie. he's married to a minority) to show that she's not being serious and playing on comedic hyperbole. as far as im concerned im just reacting to the episodes as they come and expressing my personal views (which is what i tried to explain in my little disclaimer); though i certainly take your point regarding treading lightly. the reason i started this thread at all really was as a small exercise in writing/blogging. it appears theres a few enjoying following along but if it gets to the point in not really serving a purpose i'm happy to keep further material off this site.
