I'm only 5 minutes in, but what's with the heavy breathing, Kyle?

No, wait, on second thought, I don't want to know.

The other recording was unusable so it was either heavy breathing or chucking this week's episode.

Haha. Oooops. I was breathing no heavier than normal, it's just we were forced to use my recording this week. We rarely ever do that and I didn't realize how much my mic actually picks up.

Except for the breathing the audio quality felt slightly better, you all sounded more crisp. My mic picks up my breathing too, so I'm forced to use push to talk.

Ahh Katie what have you done, you infected Kyle and Amin with your cynical book reader germs :(.

From the main page:
Quote:
reason Kyle was all breathless was he spend all day trying to get feathers for the hat to give to the afterbuzz ” I do not read” girls
:feathered:

I reuploaded the episode after some filtering to try and remove the breathing. Give it another try now, should be sounding better now.

Amin were you referring to a main gauche or other type of parrying dagger when talking about the fight at Craster's (please correct me if I'm wrong though)? If that is the case, then yes, there should be a longer blade in his other (dominiant) hand.

Quote:
The parrying dagger is a category of small hand-held weapons from the European late Middle Ages and early Renaissance. These weapons were used as off-hand weapons in conjunction with a single-handed sword. As the name implies they were designed to parry, or defend, more effectively than a simple dagger form, typically incorporating a wider guard, and often some other defensive features to better protect the hand, as well. It may also be used for attack if an opportunity arises. The general category includes two more specific kinds of weapon: sword breakers and trident daggers.[1]

I've never considered that Lysa might have been faking it, but then again I'm an audiobook reader and Roy Dotrice was quite convincing. I'm not even sure that he was faking.

Ya that is what I was referring to - far more detailed analysis available here now: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=3327

I do like that Jon needed some help and Craster's wife got a blow in there, so I'm not really annoyed by it. Just making an observation that it seemed like an odd fight at the time (and I didn't even think about the fact that Jon was wielding Valyrian steel).

From what I've glimpsed, the VOK review episodes are more negative about the show than we are. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but I find it odd this particular episode would rub you the wrong way when it has some of our highest lemoncake scores :geek:

You guys are way more positive and forgiving of the show than I am but that's fine - I still enjoy listening. I still can't get over the fact that all those guys probably saw Sansa's hair. Nice plan Littlefinger. That scene was so odd.

I'll be recording an episode with Ashley this weekend at Ice and Fire con. I'll also look into her computer and recording situation when I'm over there.
