Episode 32: Winter Has Come!

We manage to pull it all together and record a pretty darn solid episode! Almost no editing required (I added some break music, bonus points for naming it) because we’re just that good.  It also helped that we had a terrific guest who kept us on track.

Our guest for this episode was Phil from www.Winter-Is-Coming.net in case you missed the Twitter posts. You are following us on Twitter, aren’t you? We talk about everything from how his site began, his sources, thoughts about the actors and their wild hair, everything we could think of!  And probably lots more that I just can’t remember because my brain is currently filled with Star Trek. Listen in to find out what I forgot!

Thanks again for coming to chat with us, Phil!

Hey there, I’m just going to apologize in advance for my microphone in this episode. I sound really bad, like I’m talking through a tin can with a piece of string attached. I don’t possess the audio wizardry to fix that, sorry!

“My dad would have done the same thing Tywin did”?

Maybe you should think a little bit before talking rubbish on air, my dear…

  3. mimi

oh girlfriend my dad really, really hates whores. he wouldn’t even watch the “heart of gold” firefly episode with me.

also, if chase had kept in the anecdote about my awkward childhood encounter with a certain genre of pornography, you would have known the real meaning of rubbish on air. i fear that my fellow hosts will never recover from my shameless blathering.

  4. Chase

Haha, I wasn’t sure if you wanted that kept in. I always save your crazy confessions, so if there ever comes a time when the world is ready for them, they’ll be ready to release!

    1. This pretty much proves that the podcast would be better unedited.

    2. You should have your dad on the show.

Regarding Tywin: There was a passage from the books where Eddard remembers back to when he and Robert were boys and Jon Arryn took them to Kingslanding to see the king, and the two of them were very impressed with how just and fair the he was. It was only later that they found out that Aerys was to busy burning something, and that the person that they met with was Tywin.

  7. Annan

Taelor, you’re thinking of Stannis and Robert, not Eddard and Robert. Their father took them to King’s Landing.

Haven’t finished listening to this last episode yet, but before I forget – I totally didn’t think Alan Dale would make a good Tywin at first, but then I remembered how much ass he kicked on the OC…seriously, him and Peter Gallagher’s eyebrows were the only things that show had going for it.
Alan’s role as the tyrannical CEO Caleb IS Tywin in a nutshell – diabolical, manipulative, harsh on his loved ones, respected, and above all – extremely stoic and unemotional. Also he gets sued a lot but always gets himself out of it, and really likes nice suits.

On another note – Richard Armitage for Bronn!

    Another great ep guys.

Looking forward to a “The Mystery Knight” episode soon. Also an update on what you guys think about the Jennifer Ehle re-casting and the speculation about Tamzin Merchant also leaving the show.

  10. Alex

Ah, the hate for Sansa continues. Shame on you, Mimi! 😛

  11. Alex

Guys, pardon the randomness of this, but I am bugged by a memory that a long ass time ago you had announced an upcoming episode wherein you’d stray away from ASOIAF for a while and discuss other fantasy works. Did that ever actually come out? 😀

  12. John

Alex, check out Episode 27 ‘The Lost Levels’.

  13. Alex

Yep, there it is. I had missed it, apparently. Thanks. 🙂

  14. Chase

I’d like to do another one of these. I’ve got a bunch of new series to pimp, and I’m sure the rest of us do as well.

  15. Jill

We would love to hear some new recommendations…

  16. oxmix

I miss Ashley 1 and Chris. They were like a pinch of goth and a dash of conflict in the podcast soup.

  17. Chase

    We all do 🙁

Listening to this podcast makes me miss it even more. I wish the episodes were more frequent, but I guess I should just be thankful it still exists. Now that almost every character has been cast, I really enjoyed hearing your opinions concerning them. It’s sort of a bummer that the girl who played Sansa got rid of her youtube account; I would have liked to see that. I thought it was interesting that Phil described Kit Harrington who plays Jon as demonstrating intensity because I just look at the quote: “In this one I have a pet wolf!” and raise my eyebrows. I don’t know about intense, but enthusiastic certainly.

Hmmmm…it’s been quiet around here lately. Any chance of a “The Mystery Knight” podcast in the near future?

Renly climbed the last remaining stairs to his bed chamber. It had been a long day at court and he wanted nothing more than to lay down for a nice afternoon nap on his soft silky sheets. As he entered his bed chamber however he knew rest would have to wait. Loras stood in front of his bed wearing nothing but a smile and single red rose tied around his stiff manhood. Renly crossed the room and quickly untied the rose. Loras shivered at Renly’s touch and climaxed immediately which was not unusual. Without a word Loras bent over the bed widening his stance by spreading his long thin legs. Renly could feel himself hardening and quickly tore his clothes off. When he had finally freed himself he licked his palm and wiped his saliva on the head of his throbbing member. Spreading Loras’s cheeks he entered him hard from behind. He reached up to grad a handful of Loras’s thick, dark locks……
How does this story end you decide. Maybe some spanking, ass to mouth, or a cream pie followed by a rim job. The choices are endless in this tale of love and lust.

This is very disturbing. It does remind me of one of my favorite moments when Mimi reads gay fan fiction and you can hear the fear in Chase’s voice as she goes along. You should write some more of these and send them directly to Mimi. She could hunt Chase down, tie him up, and force him to listen to these stories.

Chase stirred in his chair…… Wait why am I in a chair he thought. He immediately knew he had made a grave error when he gave her a key to his place. Did she drug me he wondered. He started to ask a question when he realized not only was he tied down but he also had a ball gag in his mouth. “Mmmph mmmph” was all he could get out. He heard the giggling from somewhere across his room. Then he saw her. She crossed his room slowly with a big smile on her face. She had something in her hand. “I see you’re awake Chase” Mimi said with a smile. She walked closer until she was right in front of him. She began to circle him running her fingers through his hair. She leaned over and whispered in his ear “You really have been a dirty boy Chase, and I have just the punishment for you”. She came back around to face him and he decided to look down at what she had in her hand. It was a book maybe a thousand pages. “I see you have noticed my punishment for you” Mimi said excitedly. She turned the book so Chase could see the title. Gay Fan Fiction was written across the front cover in gold writing. Mimi’s tone changed to something more dominating as she said “You will listen to every word of this you wretch”. Against his gag Chase screamed.

  23. John

Damn. When I said it was quiet around here, I didn’t mean that I had a burning desire to read slash fan fic on this thread. On the other hand, a bit of Mimi x Chase might be exactly what was needed to rouse APOIAF from its extended slumber…

  24. Chase

    I’ll say!

  25. Taco

I knew Chase would be game!!

Glad to find the podcast. My wife and I are great fans of the books (named our daughters daenerys and arya lol) and finding a podcast encompassing different perspectives is awesome.

    Keep up the great work!
