Behind The Creaking Door

The Show

A Podcast of Ice and Fire was founded in March 2008 and launched as an attempt to fill in the hollow gaping void the fifth book delay had left in Mimi’s heart. The concept of a structured, professional approach to podcasting about a book series was inspired by the structure of the Harry Potter-devoted Mugglecast. The idea of thorough coverage of varying aspects in the books was spawned by the original ASOIAF podcast, Winter is Coming. However, the result ended up something different altogether.

If you find yourself occasionally offended or disturbed by swearing, unfiltered discussion, or Pokemon, this is not the podcast for you.

But if you’re looking for something to casually listen to that provides you with a whole slew of ASOIAF-related jokes, you’ve come to the right place. We are what it would be like to sit around comfortably and discuss the books and TV show with friends. If your friends were creepy and had bad microphones.

New to the podcast?  Don’t know where to start?  We recommend reading this guide. Interested to send us an ASOIAF/Game of Thrones related product to review? Check out our podcast CV or email us.

What Listeners Say

iTunes Rating

“I’ve never actually met the folks from the Podcast of Ice & Fire… but I have listened to them from time to time, and they seem to have a lot of fun. They are not always right, but they are [almost] always interesting, and worth the listen. So give them a try, if you’re a fan of podcasts. You can find them talking about the show, the books, and… for reasons I am not entirely clear on… House Manwoody.” – George R.R. Martin

“This podcast is 50% ice and fire and 50% vulgar content.  What’s not to like?  If you like the series then you must know it goes together like peanut butter and jelly.  If you’re like me and don’t scan the forums for ice and fire stuff then this podcast is the next best thing.” – /3lacksnow

“…the delivery and banter can get quite base at times” – podakayne

“Not always on topic but always entertaining.  This podcast has pretty much everything you would expect in a podcast on the series: enthusiastic hosts, knowledgeable commentary, thoughtful speculation, and a sprinkling of sex and violence.” – Steven Shuster

“complete garbage” – Audrey Wolff

“I like the straightforward way of discussion without taboos. You are the reason why people in the train look at me strangely when I break out laughing while listening to your podcast!” – Thomas

“It’s not professional sounding, but that is part of its charm.  The podcasters are engaging.  They have something here.  Join the cult following.” – Oxmix

“Since a flashcard full of your podcasts came to my village from America, I have actually enjoyed my powerless nights here. It gives me something else to think about other than freezing my ass in my room wondering why the hell a donkey is screaming outside my window.” – Anthony, Peace Corps Volunteer

“If you’re a reader of the books you’ll want to subscribe to this one. They know their stuff and offer real, entertaining analysis of the books and tv show…not the endless “that was awesome” you get on most. If you only want to listen to one GoT pod a week and have read the source material search no more as this is the best out there.” – The Low Septon

“The hosts here are not mindless zealots, but are both fair and brutal when it comes to their opinions, which makes this podcast a well-rounded and balanced listen.” – VladimirL
