Yeah, the cats are Targs. The one that Arya catches was named after a dragon. When she chases it, it is a Song of Ice and Fire writ small.
And what does it mean that Joffrey cut the mama cat open?
Good stuff. This Martin fellow is better than people realize. Like the podcasters said (I forget which podcaster), even the cats have back stories.

We love us some Nedopak. Good guest. And yes, there would have been rioting in the streets if she hadn’t done some of the reading… though I also think hearing Amin attempt Sansa would have been awesome.
