oh, and about the penis removal thing. i just remembered- that was from the hedge knight, not the ASOIAF series proper. i am not losing my mind completely.

Just finished listening, and I adored it. It’s so much fun to geek out about AOSIAF with someone other than my goofy friends – and having everyone else at the dinner table shouting at us to shut up already. I’ll certainly listen if you do more!

P.S. Targaryens all the way. Psycho crazies with swords named Dark Sister and Blackfyre? No contest.

Great job folks, i enjoyed the listen. As for the Targaryen “crazy factor” i believe it has to do with the imbreeding that is done, although it’s noted that not all Targaryen’s have the crazy factor as it is mentioned by Barristan when Dany was worried she would fall into maddness.

As for where in Westros i would go, what family would i align myself with…I would head north to the wall and join my brothers of the watch 🙂

Great cast-I’ll continue to listen. It’s nice to have an outlet for discussion on these books without creeping out my friends. If I had to choose, I would definitely ally myself w/ the Targaryens-they’ve got the dragons, and Dany is good eye candy. What I would really want would be to buy ocean-front property on Braavos and study a the temple of the Many-Faced God. One question I would love to hear you discuss-how does a society this complex, with its rich history and culture (think of the Citadel) develop when the Houses of the seven kingdoms are and have been for centuries almost uniformly cruel, barbaric and contentious?

P.S. Winter IS Coming…the Eyrie should put in some chairlifts…

I’ve been waiting for another ASOIAF podcast to come along (the Winter Is Coming podcast seems to be on a long haitus) for a few months, and this was great. I agree with the other comments; it’s nice to listen to some good discussion of the series.

Regarding with whom I would align myself in Westeros, I would say it would be a tie between the Starks and the Martells. The Starks are just dear to my heart, but the Martells seem to be in a good position at this point in the series. Plus the Red Viper was a badass.

I think that it would be pretty sweet to be in one of the Pureborn families in Qarth. I maintain that Qarth and the whole Jade Sea trader’s circle area is the coolest sounding place in GRRM’s world.

Pretty sure Yi Ti is Martin’s version of Grorious Nippon.

    Great job everybody. Very cool.

Are you guys gonna get a message board?

    re: forums
i’m not sure we’ll consider implementing forums until we’ve got more episodes and a solid listener base under our belts. it’s a great idea, though!

Rofl, i think it was Mimi defending Theon, then about 30 seconds later you were like omg I hate Euron so much, because hes a womanizer. I choked on my lunch that was so funny. Theon is by far the biggest womanizer we have seen in the entire series lol.

Ok, Just finished listening to the entire episode, I thought it was pretty good and very entertaining. The only thing I did not like is that you guys almost completely ignore the most important house in the entire series, House Stark. You kind of even talked about the Boltons more than the Starks. I just don’t think you can discuss the major houses, and just brush over the major ones. Maybe u guys should do the next cast strictly on the Starks and Jon Snow. Or even do something on the Lannisters, you basically seemed to brush over these 2 houses and Taragaryen, but spent lots of time on the Iron Islands and Dorne, and Highgarden which are to this point, less important in the story.

thanks for the feedback, ranskey. i just wanted to address a couple of things: the euron comment was a joke, of course. 😛 as my co-hosts point out, nearly everyone in the seres is a womanizer. but you are certainly right, we did not address house stark in detail much. this is primarily because at this point of discussion end of AFFC), stark is fragmented and doesn’t really factor into the game of thrones. furthermore, we plan to dedicate entire episodes towards discussing houses stark, lannister, and targaryen in the future. they are, as you point out, major houses with their own plot points, and deserve more focus.

    cool

Listened to the podcast again, yesterday I was eating so may have missed a few things. It was really good again. I do argue with your earlier comment, the Starks are far from out of the game of thrones, because at the end of Feast, Baelish tells Sansa hes gonna make her queen of the north. And he has gotten everything he has wanted the entire series, except for the death of Catelyn Stark perhaps.

Not sure if you guys care about your last.fm profile page, but since I listened to the podcast on iTunes you got scrobbled as “iceandfirepodcast@gmail.com” as the artist name and “a podcast of ice and fire” as the album name. Is that how you intended it to be? The profile page it created is here.

Heya. Just listened to your first episode, and I just realized something. You guys are all newbies! Except for Amin, most of you just barely started reading the series. Ah, I remember those good ‘ol days, when the series was life-changing and eye-opening. I picked up a Clash of Kings when it first came out, when I was in eighth grade. I would ally with House Martell, they remind me of Arizona, my homestate.

  16. DocBean

I gotta say, Mimi cracked me up.
I love the potty mouth, I think I’m in love.

    great job everyone.

  17. mimi

this is my least crass episode, too!

  18. DocBean

well you do a great job. I’m loving it.

  19. Anika

I would ally with the Starks. Easy. I love the idea of that ancient line, and a House that actually stands for some sort of honour… I know it’d put me right at the top of the hit list for other Houses but I can’t help it. They’re just so awesome!

  20. Rusty

I don’t know if this is discussed in future episodes, but I think the Hightowers from Oldtown descend from the First Men. Also, the Lannisters supposedly descend from Lann the Clever from the age of heroes.

  21. Jason

This episode is an epic control freak battle between Mimi and Chris.
