Episode 31: Better Than Farmville

Episode 31 for the week of March 7th (try not to laugh when you hear which week it was actually intended for), in which we round out our Dunk & Egg extravaganza with a recap of The Sworn Sword.  Get your graphic novel version out so you can take maximum advantage of Chase’ incessant raving about Dunk’s package.  The Podcast of Ice and Fire is back in action and ready to offend the ear some more.

Spoiler warning: Much like the previous episode, this is intended for listeners who have read the novella.  Futhermore, there are a couple of vague references to the preview chapter of the unreleased follow-up, The Mystery Knight.  You’ve been warned!

  1. I really liked your treatment of Sworn Sword, it was a nice blend of the novella and graphic novel. Not to sound surprised, but the audio on this episode was especially well-balanced too. Did you guys add a filter program or new mics or just get lucky with Skype or something? Fantastic stuff, probably my favorite episode since #1.

  2. Chase

Amin recorded it this time, instead of me. It seems to be more balanced when he does it.

  3. Chase

When I was editing it was just easier to record myself and immediately start with that file than wait for Amin to upload it to Megaupload. I’d be happy to do the editing again to save Mimi the trouble, as busy as she is, but I can use Amin’s recording from now on if it sounds that much better.

You guys are so like George Martin.

You ignore my Skype voice mail, you disappear for long stretches of time, I give up on following you, and then . . .

You come up with these greatly entertaining shows. You’re my favorite podcast by far. You’ve got real chemistry. I don’t know why you would change a thing.

I know you say that you are running out of things to say, but you never seem to have any trouble filling up an hour. After all, doesn’t one thing always remind you of another?

  5. A Podcast of Ice and Fire

The Skype voice mail account was Amin’s station! Sorry if we ignored it, but it didn’t work out too well and was scrapped pretty quickly.

Just keep making good podcasts and all is forgiven. And thanks for the ones you’ve made already. I enjoyed them all.

Chase, having read Confederacy of Dunces, I’m fairly sure that equating him with Ignatius J Reilly is the meanest thing anyone’s ever said about GRRM. I mean, if they’re *that* close, then George’s books would be completely unreadable, wouldn’t they?
