Episode 55: Candy and Rainbows
Episode 55 for the week of May 22nd, in which we bring you a woefully belated chapter recap episode. This time around, we discuss chapters 4 and 5 of A Clash of Kings, explain why Cersei Lannister’s middle name is probably Kori, and somehow divert ourselves into a discussion about getting drunk with the characters of Westeros. The lovely and hilarious Jaz of House Boox guest hosts for this episode.

Felt like an old school throwback episode. I didn’t have problems with hearing everyone, so great job with the editing if that was a problem.

I just pictured Jamie as whenever he got the urge he just took Cersei. That’s why he was so sex crazed when he finally returns to King’s Landing in ASoS. Could also explain why he has stirrings for Brienne. Dude needs to blow his load. Then he’ll be thinking straight, but he’s not the masturbation type.

A telling point about Jaime’s character is that in one of his POVs he says that he can’t have sex with anyone but Cersei. After the remorseless attempted murder of a small child, this is the biggest indication that Jaime has some serious mental health issues.
Also, Briene is the first woman other than Cersei who Jaime could have sex with (although he does not).
Put this together with Jaime’s comments to and about Loras (the anti-gay insult, the observation that Loras is just like Jaime) and the fact that Jaime joined an all male organization that takes a vow of celibacy (the Westeros version of the He-man Woman Haters Club), and we have an interesting possibility. Is Jaime a repressed homosexual?
There you have. The Jaime-is-gay theory, first postulated by Oxmix on June 7, 2011. Gotta put this on the Westeros boards.

This episode will go into my top ten favorite aPoIaF episodes, maybe even top five. Lots of fun to listen to.
I feel like I need to add my take to the Kings guard discussion. I just think that the Kings guard were (with the exception of Boros Blount) pretty darn good fighters. Nothing compared to King Aerys guard but they were better with a sword than most I would say.
Probably the reason why I feel this way is based off The Battle of the Blackwater in one of Tyrions chapters when it says something like Ser Mandon Moore and Ser Balon Swann were fighting together and were just tearing fools up. Also I think Tyrion comments on how great and awesome they looked doing it. Especially Balon Swann later in the chapter. Jaime I think in Feast for Crows even says to Balon Swann something like “Yep, your doing a good job buddy.””Oh, Joffrey died during your watch?” “No big deal.” and lets him leave the Guards meeting early. It may have happened a little differently, but I think thats the gist of it. I think most of them were dicks but still pretty good fighters
I also think “Pics or it didnt happen” easily applies to Song of Ice and Fire. Here are some examples:
Syrio Forel dead. Pics or it didnt happen.
Syrio is Jaqen. Pics or it didnt happen.
Littlefinger boned Catelyn. Pics or GTFO.
Davos beheaded. Pics or it didnt happen.
Tormund Giantsbane and his crazy stories. Pics or it didnt happen.
Its like Apocalypse Dan said in that one episode. “Trophies and/or Pics or it didnt happen.” At least I think it was Apocalypse Dan that said it. maybe it was someone else who said that about trophies. I think it was Apocalypse Dan though.
I might have chosen Shagga as a drinking buddy, but on second thought I would probably say the wrong thing and then Shagga would feed my manhood to the goats. So he’s out. I would probably chose King Robert as my drinking buddy. He seems fun.
