I am pretty sure they got rid of Danny’s Silver so they could save on a ‘Horse Budget’ for the rest of the season to help pay for the Battle of Blackwater and to simplify the rest of her storyline?
I think?

They probably just wanted to make the scene a bit sentimental to Dany despite Doreah not dying.

I may be over thinking this, but wouldn’t the iron fleet be rather useless against KL given that it’s on the other side of Westeros? Especially having White Harbor and its navy like right there. Petitioning the Greyjoys really only makes sense if Rob was going after the westerlands. But whatevs

Agreed, I mentioned the same at about 56 minutes in.

I almost brought up the same point. But how long does it take to sail ships around Westeros compared to 10’s of thousands of people walking across it?

Howland Reed's Wrath
What the fuck are you talking about? The Iron Fleet was supposed to sail against Lannisport and play the hammer to Robb’s anvil.
White Harbor doesn’t have a fleet. Wyman Manderly doesn’t start building the fleet until Clash of Kings and by the time ADWD comes around its still smaller than the Iron Fleet let alone all the Greyjoy bannermen. And, Manderly doesn’t have any one to sail them, so he has to recruit Davos to go to Skagos.
Re: Craster and Mormont: Mortmont knows, all the rangers know.
“She used to say that there were wildlings who would lay with the Others to birth half-human children.”
“Hearth tales. Does Craster seem less than human to you?”
In half a hundred ways. “He gives his sons to the wood.”
A long silence. Then: “Yes.” And “Yes,” the raven muttered, strutting. “Yes, yes, yes.”
“You knew?”
“Smallwood told me. Long ago. All the rangers know, though few will talk of it.”
“Did my uncle know?”
“All the rangers,” Mormont repeated. “You think I ought to stop him. Kill him if need be.” The Old Bear sighed. “Were it only that he wished to rid himself of some mouths, I’d gladly send Yoren or Conwys to collect the boys. We could raise them to the black and the Watch would be that much the stronger. But the wildlings serve crueler gods than you or I. These boys are Craster’s offerings. His prayers, if you will.”
His wives must offer different prayers, Jon thought.
“How is it you came to know this?” the Old Bear asked him. “From one of Craster’s wives?”
“Yes, my lord,” Jon confessed. “I would sooner not tell you which. She was frightened and wanted help.”
“The wide world is full of people wanting help, Jon. Would that some could find the courage to help themselves. Craster sprawls in his loft even now, stinking of wine and lost to sense. On his board below lies a sharp new axe. Were it me, I’d name it ‘Answered Prayer’ and make an end.”
Yes. Jon thought of Gilly. She and her sisters. They were nineteen, and Craster was one, but…
“Yet it would be an ill day for us if Craster died. Your uncle could tell you of the times Craster’s Keep made the difference between life and death for our rangers.”

I think they refrained from talking about what Craster does with his sons to create more shock surrounding what occurs at the end of the second episode ( which has already been leaked).

An enjoyable analysis! Glad to see you guys are coming from a slightly less “purist” angle this year. Even Mimi’s rants weren’t that bad. 🙂

Good episode..
I am more worried about what they will do for the house of the undying, We haven’t seen anything regarding it.
We now have Dany going after her blood rider. How long has it been since Drogo died? and why kill silver when Doreah is suppose to die. Kill one of the other hand maidens if you don’t want to kill her. Its a good episode but there are some irrating changes.
Anyone else notice that Ned was the one who told Stannis instead of Stannis being the one who discovered the incest. It may not be a big deal but I thought it helped explain why Stannis was never in King’s Landing for Season 1. Also why Robert Arryn went looking for bastards.

Re. your guys’ comment on Cersei vs. Littlefinger – I disagree.
The scene makes sense considering she’s goading him by mentioning Cat, and the scenario (I guess) needed to point out that Cat’s his one weak spot. LF lost it – it’s no big deal.
Besides, the scene works. It’s well delivered, it’s fun to watch. For an added scene, it’s great 🙂

The only part of that scene that seemed out of place for me was the “close your eyes” part. First, Cersei’s already proved the point by having the guards grab Littlefinger, almost kill him on command, let him go on your command, and step back on command. I get it. Second, their visors are down and their backs are to the camera! How do I know that they actually closed their eyes?

Re watching Season 2 now….
ROAR, it is so annoying that Danny’s eyebrows are black while her hair is white. Especially walking in the sun all day! Those eyebrows should be bleached white!
/end rant
Also, the first season of the season 2. The drunk knight/fool was wearing colors that looked kinda like the ye’ old red, white, and blue. Red and White stripes under a blue field. There were 3 things on the blue that (from afar) could look like stars. I don’t know if that was described in the books or if the American production team was making a bit of a joke of Americans being drunken fools…because… honestly, we are.
