Great show, nice job covering an illustrated novel in an audio medium! Enjoyed the discussion of a fairly inconsequential chapter and how it relates to the greater history of Westeros.
HOWEVER…terribly disappointed in each and every one of you for not knowing about the Judge John Hodgman podcast!! He’s brilliant and I love him and everyone should read his books and listen to his podcast! That is all. (Hopefully someone out there will GET that last comment, but it won’t be y’all

Nope, Ashley’s crackpot doesn’t work at all. Patchface has prophetic abilities and he clearly saw that Roslin was losing her virginity at the Red Wedding: “Fool’s blood, king’s blood, blood on a maiden’s thigh. But chains for the guests and chains for the bridegroom, aye aye aye”. It also doesn’t make sense for them to risk something as big as an heir to Riverrun for such a stupid reason. If some of the many Frey girls got pregnant or otherwise “dishonored”, like Ami, they’d marry her to a random knight, nor put her forward as a bride and mom of a Tully. They picked Roslin because she is beautiful (and was a virgin, unlike Fair Walda, who had something going on with Black Walder). If Edmure hadn’t gotten her pregnant immediately, they would have forced him to have sex with her until she got pregnant. That’s why they are keeping him alive – the baby may die, or be a girl, or Roslin may miscarry.
I assume you meant Shakespeare’s Richard III with Lame Lothar/Tyrion comparisons. The historical Richard III is more of a Ned/Stannis/a bit of Renly mix.

Can’t believe you didn’t know John Hodgman! For shame! And you know him as the guy from those commercials…
Anyway. Kind of surprised that you were all so positive about this book. I found it mostly recycled art work and just slotted in, not worked into the text like the Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.
It’s still cool to have but I was expecting a bigger format book, folio like an art book. But it’s actually smaller than the regular hardcover. $50 is pretty steep, but it makes a nice gift.
Not sure if they are going to do all the rest in this format. This was the 20th anniversary edition, so I would assume they’d wait for the anniversaries for those books.
Sorry to be down on it, but it just wasn’t what I was expecting.
