Episode 253: Tywin’s Toilet Paper
Episode 253 for the week of March 15, 2020, in which we cover chapter 77 (Jon XI) and chapter 78 (Tyrion XI) of A Storm of Swords. After many years, we return to the questions of whether Tywin’s death was setup by Varys and what Shae was doing in this chapter. We chat about the first few days of the COVID-19 lockdown and, appropriately given this chapter, toilet paper and bidets.

Regarding the Tywin/Shae question, Cersei recalls that on this very day Shae went to her and asked for payment for what she said at the trial, but Cersei refused because Shae couldn’t say where Sansa was, and that Shae left Cersei “in tears”, so Shae has prime motivation to go seek Tywin out On thus very day/night.
