Episode 257 for the week of June 28th, 2020, in which we continue our “A Feast for Dragons” reread, covering The Prophet and The Captain of Guards.
Notes: The forums were back up since the recording of this episode, but went down against after the release (perhaps we jinxed it). We also have a Discord server. [MP3] download of the episode.
Episode 256 for the week of May 17, 2020, in which we start our “A Feast for Dragons” reread, combining A Feast for Crows and A Dance with Dragons. We cover the prologues of both books.
Notes: Thanks to Sean from Boiled Leather compiling the read order we are using. Here is the previous Supreme Court of Westeros ruling and accompanying theory musing about Archmaester Walgrave as the Perfumed Seneschal in the April 2014 comments.
Episode 255 for the week of May 3rd, 2020, in which we complete the longest running reread of A Storm of Swords, covering chapter 81 (Sansa VII) and the epilogue.
Episode 253 for the week of March 15, 2020, in which we cover chapter 77 (Jon XI) and chapter 78 (Tyrion XI) of A Storm of Swords. After many years, we return to the questions of whether Tywin’s death was setup by Varys and what Shae was doing in this chapter. We chat about the first few days of the COVID-19 lockdown and, appropriately given this chapter, toilet paper and bidets.
Notes: As mentioned in the episode, Ice and Fire Con has been rescheduled to October 2020 due to COVID-19 and there is a Patreon support link for supporters of the convention to help with the transition. This is the guitar song at the end of the episode.
Episode 252 for the week of March 1, 2020, in which we cover chapter 75 ( Arya XIII) and chapter 76 (Samwell IV) of A Storm of Swords. The latter chapter involving the election at the Wall was particularly relevant as the episode was recorded one day after Super Tuesday in the US.
Episode 251 for the week of February 2nd, 2020, in which we reconvene our full podcast crew and continue our longest running reread, covering chapter 73 (Jaime IV) and chapter 74 (Jon X) of A Storm of Swords. Nearing the 12 year anniversary of our podcast, we chat about past times including our attendances at San Diego Comic-Con.
Episode 250 for the week of November 24th, 2019, in which we review A Clash of Kings: The Illustrated Edition, released in honour of the 20th anniversary of the release of that book. We continue our longest running reread, covering chapter 71 (Tyrion X) and chapter 72 (Daenerys VI) of A Storm of Swords.
Notes: The audio clip at the start is real and was recorded in April 2011. It was discussed in Episode 249. Link to the trailer about the digital adaptation of A Game of Thrones: The Board Game.
Episode 249 for the week of October 6th, 2019, in which we cover chapter 69 (Sansa VI) and chapter 70 (Jon IX) of A Storm of Swords. We chat about entering the post Game of Thrones era, our final reflections on Comic Con 2019 and our mutual interest in The Orville.

Episode 248 for the week of July 21, 2019 in which we do a recap of our time spent as press and panelists at San Diego Comic-Con 2019. We are joined by Tara Lynne of the Geekiary and Ice and Fire Con and Jon (eigenvector) from the forums. At the end of the episode, we have the full audio recording of our fifth annual Ice and Fire / Game of Thrones fan panel at Comic Con.
Episode 247 for the week of July 7th, 2019, in which we cover chapter 67 (Tyrion IX) and chapter 68 (Jaime VIII) of A Storm of Swords. We chat about the convention season, from Ice and Fire Con 2019 to the upcoming Con of Thrones and San Diego Comic-Con this month.
Notes: Check out the Westeros musical from Ice and Fire Con 2019 mentioned by Ashley. Links for our upcoming A Song of Ice and Fire/Game of Thrones panel at San Diego Comic-Con and our prospective listener/fan meetup. For our listeners that play the board game or know anyone that does, please check out and share our survey collecting statistics in support of another official tournament.
Episode 245 for the week of May 12, 2019, in which we review the fifth and penultimate episode in the eighth and final season of HBO’s Game of Thrones.
Notes: This is the GRRM interview with the quote about non-blood flow mentioned in the podcast. Thanks to Daryl for sending us T-shirts from the Mance Rayder Tribute Band.
Episode 243 for the week of April 28, 2019, in which we review the third episode in the eighth and final season of HBO’s Game of Thrones.
Notes: Thank you to BBC News for inviting us to an interview before the start of the season – we couldn’t make it due to the long night (i.e. the time difference between North America and Britain), but Bina aptly carried the banner for Vassals of Kingsgrave as noted in the aftershow of this episode.
