Ashley of A Podcast of Ice and Fire attempts to cook Cheese and Onion Pie from A Feast of Ice and Fire, a cook book written by the authors of The Inn at the Crossroads.
Episode 83 for the week of July 1st, in which APOIAF begins our Beyond the Wall ranging project. We will be hosting some of the authors of articles in the recently published Beyond the Wall book.
Episode 82 for the week of June 10th, in which we wind down from Game of Thrones episode recaps in a return to our traditional chapter re-reads of A Clash of Kings. In this episode, we cover chapters 13 (Dany I) and 14 (John II). Amin presents his Bear Mode theory while Mimi brings the Jeor/Benjen crackpot pairing to the table.
Episode 81 for the week of June 3rd, in which we review the tenth and final episode in the second season of HBO’s Game of Thrones. House Manwoody and House Gatewatch combine forces this week, as we are joined by returning guest hosts Phil (Winter) and FaBio from Winter is Coming.
Notes: As usual, spoilers from all books in George RR Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series are present. The end music (guitar theme) was provided by Lex. The chat transcript for this episode, including all the image links we were discussing, are in the forum thread.
The Bastards of Kingsgrave (BOK) is a bastard podcast, an offshoot of A Podcast of Ice and Fire. BOK was founded in May 2012, to allow the 4 podcast hosts as well as their listeners and forum members to occasionally podcast about a variety of other topics, including TV shows, movies, novels, comics, games, etc.
One feature of BOK is that the hosts and the majority of our guests are fans of ASOIAF, active on our forums, and are aware of the terminology and jokes developed during the four year run (so far) of our ASOIAF podcast. BOK is also even more informal than APOIAF, with minimal episode editing, PG25 status, and an even greater shocking lack of knowledge.
To discuss BOK episodes in detail, to suggest future episodes topics, or to guest host with us, check out the BOK subforum, one of the forums at the main APOIAF website.
To subscribe to us, use the RSS feed on the BOK website, which will work in iTunes or any other RSS reader. If we get on the iTunes store we will let you know, but for the moment it is not a priority.
Episode 80 for the week of May 29th, in which we review the ninth episode in the second season of HBO’s Game of Thrones. Fan favorite Larry from Otaku Assemble joins us for the review, as well as linecom1 and cosmia, two returning guest hosts from our forums.
After a lengthy main episode, the podcast hosts an aftershow of Tormund Giantsbane proportions, asking three questions of Fuzzymotion, Elio, and Stefan, as well as a large group of our listeners and forum members.
Notes: First, to get in on The Hound vs Bronn (book versions) debate, vote in the relevant forum thread. Second, we know that the latest episodes are having trouble appearing on the iTunes store and we are working on the problem – for now you can subscribe to the RSS feed directly in iTunes or another RSS reader or download the episodes from our website. Finally, the version of Rains of Castamere played at the end of the main show was produced by Douglas.
Sariann and Chelsea join us in reviewing the eighth episode in the second season of HBO’s Game of Thrones. We discuss the great potato debate, Bloodraven’s 1001 eyes and various bathtub combinations in a veritable storm of House Manwoody jokes.
Notes: For the text transcript of this episode and detailed discussion, check out the forum thread. Below is the fan art of the podcast crew by Rosie/vietrose mentioned during the episode, as well as the Bath Scene drawn by sisaat afterwards.
Episode 78 for the week of May 13th, in which we review the seventh episode in the second season of HBO’s Game of Thrones. Ashley, Amin and Kyle are joined by returning guest Lex and first time guest Vikingkingq Vikingkingq (Race for the Iron Throne Blog), both from our forums. There are a multitude of other listeners joining in a chaotic aftershow of Tormund Giantsbane proportions, with the best entrance award going to Alex from Tower of the Hand!
Notes: For the text transcript of this episode and detailed discussion, check out the forum thread. For the Genna Lannister/Red Walder Hill theory, check out the relevant forum thread. Finally, the guitar music at the end of the main episode was recorded by Lex.
Episode 77 for the week of May 6th, in which we review the sixth episode in the second season of HBO’s Game of Thrones. Kyle takes and breaks a holy vow of silence and some Dany-hate rises to the surface in Mimi’s absence. High definition audio of clicking and snack eating is provided by the power of Ashley’s “it just works” Mac.
Note: For the text transcript of this episode, check out the forum thread.
Episode 76 for the week of April 29th, in which we review the fifth episode in the second season of HBO’s Game of Thrones. Kyle and Amin are joined by FTWard and Lex from our forums. It is an episode filled with technical difficulties, and a multitude of other guest hosts joining from our forums near the end of the second hour.
Note: For the text transcript of this episode, check out the forum thread.
Episode 75 for the week of April 22th, in which we review the fourth episode in the second season of HBO’s Game of Thrones. We create the name “Middlefinger” and Mimi tries to watch the last two scenes of Garden of Bones live for the first time, while the boys provide a narrative backdrop.
Note: No actual tables or sweatpants were harmed during the production of this podcast. R’hllor interfered with the audio quality.
What are you doing on Sunday nights, after watching Game of Thrones? If your answer involves sitting in front of your computer, you might want to consider joining APOIAF in our epic House Manwoody Pictionary Nights, via iSketch. Check the forums for more information. And if you need convincing, look at this beautiful moment in time.
Episode 74 for the week of April 15th, in which the Podcast of Ice and Fire defy their usual turnaround time to bring you a review of the third episode in the second season of HBO’s Game of Thrones. Guest host Dr. Augustine brings the knowledge in this week’s recap as we gush over Bryan Cogman’s writing and devise hashtags for Theon’s tweets.
This week’s episode includes an extended aftershow for House Manwoody bannermen only, in which we talk about our podcast and its community in great depth. We might or might not have even talked about you.
Episode 73 for the week of April 8th, in which we continue our episode reviews by tackling the second episode in the second season of HBO’s Game of Thrones. Fan favorite Larry from Otaku Assemble joins us for a SPOILER FREE discussion of what we loved, hated, and were slightly aroused by in last Sunday’s episode.
Book readers and longtime APOIAF devotees, stay tuned to the aftershow for a spoilery debate! Warning: Mimi and Ashley’s collective nerd rage running on high after the 1:15 mark.
Note: We forgot to introduce our guest host during the aftershow, which was an unfortunate oversight. To clarify- his name is Jon, he’s 14 years old, and he likes girls with bad tattoos.
