Episode 54: A Golden Crown

Episode 52 for the week of May 22nd, in which we review the sixth episode of HBO’s Game of Thrones. We are joined by guest hosts Christina and Jaycel (aka Poe to the Pulps from our forums). And unfortunately, Christina is sober for the duration of this episode.

Episode 53: Two Guys, a Girl and a Lemoncake Place

Episode 53 for the week of May 15th, in which we are joined by guest host Kristen Nedopak from Think Hero TV. After some introductory chat, we continue our reread of A Clash of Kings, reviewing chapters 2 and 3. We also talk about the TV show, George R.R. Martin’s writing style and lemoncakes.

Episode 52: The Wolf and the Lion

Episode 52 for the week of May 15th, in which we review the fifth episode of HBO’s Game of Thrones. Because of our special guest host this week, this episode is SPOILER-FREE until the aftershow (at which time, you will hear the spoiler warning). Listen to us discuss booby-trapped saddles, the Loras & Renly Manscaping Hour, and mourn poor Jory Cassel with our hilarious, enthusiastic guest of the week: Larry, of Otaku Assemble Youtube fame.

ASOIAF readers and long-time APOIAF listeners, stay tuned to our ridiculously long aftershow for some familiar voices, and their opinions on the episode!

Episode 51: Cripples, Bastards And Broken Things

Episode 51 for the week of May 8th, in which APOIAF fucked up royally and lost our actual attempt at a Game of Thrones episode recap (read: didn’t actually record it). Therefore, we are rolling out Late Night with Mimi & Kyle as a stand-in for our “Cripples, Bastards And Broken Things” review. And don’t be confused when the intro says “episode 69.” That’s just Mimi being dumb and not even remotely sexy.

Don’t hate us, we love you. Stay tuned for our return to the A Clash of Kings re-read!

Episode 50: Lord Snow

Episode 50 for the week of May 1st, in which we bring you a week-late review of HBO’s Game of Thrones third episode. Listen to us gush over the perfection that is Maisie Williams, respond to listener voicemails, and probably some other things too.

We’ve officially churned out 50 episodes over our 3-year lifespan. Some were good, some were terrible, and then there was Tyrion the Catcher, which defies description. The Podcast of Ice and Fire wants to thank every listener, subscriber, and guest host who has given us feedback, dick jokes, and the will to continue podcasting after all this time. Here’s to House Manwoody, and another 50 episodes of ASOIAF-related laughter.

Warning: this podcast episode (and all HBO’s Game of Thrones review episodes) will contain spoilers for aired episodes as well as all four published books in the A Song of Ice and Fire series. New viewers of the show who have not yet read the books, you’ve been warned.

Episode 49: Girls Night Out (Version 2)

Episode 49 for the week of May 1st, otherwise known as the episode with the most breasts in the history of APOIAF. The female members of the podcast are joined by guests hosts Linda [co-founder of Westeros.org], Kelsey [moderator of ontd_asoiaf], Christina, Dani, and Sarah. On top of all this feminine magnificence, fan favorite Ashley 2 makes an appearance for this special episode. We discuss the women of Westeros, find out that we are not supposed to enjoy this “boy fiction,” and witness Christina dropping the bomb of knowledge about royal inheritance. Also some sexy things were said. Unlike the boys of the podcast, we actually recorded our aftershow!

Episode 48: The Kingsroad

Episode 48 for the week of April 24th, in which we bring you an overlong review of the second episode (this time overflowing with Chase opinions!), mourn the painful Lady-killing scene, and yell at Chase until he shaves his beard. Resident archeologist and sexbot Christina guest hosts again.

Note: this episode was recorded after Girls’ Night Out and is being published before it, so there might be a few confusing references. Don’t panic, ladychat will be on its way to being published soon.

Warning: this podcast episode (and all HBO’s Game of Thrones review episodes) will contain spoilers for aired episodes as well as all four published books in the A Song of Ice and Fire series. New viewers of the show who have not yet read the books, you’ve been warned.

Episode 47: Winter is Coming

Episode 47 for the week of April 17th, in which we bring you the first of many Game of Thrones episode reviews. Tune in to hear our thoughts on the premiere of the HBO series, witness Kyle’s impersonation of Dany’s maid, and discover why Jamie should have worn sunglasses during the final scene.

Warning: this podcast episode (and all HBO’s Game of Thrones review episodes) will contain spoilers for aired episodes as well as all four published books in the A Song of Ice and Fire series. New viewers of the show who have not yet read the books, you’ve been warned.

Episode 46: Delicious Lemoncakes

Episode 46 for the week of April 10th, in which we bring you a short episode just in time before the HBO Game of Thrones premiere. This week, we listen raptly to Kyle’s report from a week spent wandering the streets of LA for the Game of Thrones food truck, discuss the fifteen minute preview of the first episode, and listen to Chase grumble a bit.

You can watch Kyle’s food truck videos on Youtube here, and watch him being interviewed by ThinkHero here.

Episode 45: Interviewing Tower of the Hand

Episode 45 for the week of March 27th, in which we interview Alex, cofounder and cowebmaster of Tower of the Hand. Alex is also known as the Lord of the Chapters and Keeper of the Keys. We learn about the history of Tower of the Hand, discuss a unique theory and review the prologue of A Clash of Kings.

Episode 44: Guys Night Out (Version 2)

Episode 44 for the week of March 27, in which the male members of the podcast host a guys’ night out. We are joined by three guest hosts, Apocalypse Dan, Elio [co-founder of Westeros.org] and FaBio [Winter is Coming]. We start off with a discussion of Westerosi wines and the upcoming Cyanide Studios Song of Ice and Fire games. Then we dive into a review of the badassess, dbags and master minds of Westeros. And of course, we comment on the women of Westeros too, in an episode of Tormund Giantsbane proportions. The after show for this episode was targeted toward the upcoming girls’ night episode podcasters and was apparently too hot for our call recorders to handle. We managed to piece together a transcript of it, which is posted in our forums.

Episode 43: Hear Us Roar

Episode 43 for the week of March 20th, in which we discuss chapter 73 of A Game of Thrones, finally finishing our reread of the first book. We cover our usual outdated TV series news, analyze Stannis’ sex life, and speculate on dragon reproduction. We are joined by guest host and master of tongues Marko (Hear Me Roar) from Winter is Coming.

Episode 42: Greyjoy Birth Control

Episode 42 for the week of March 13th, in which we discuss chapters 71 and 72 of A Game of Thrones, continue to discover Amin’s weird shipping fantasies, and rhapsodize over recent HBO trailers (just pretend they’re recent and that we’re timely).   We are joined this week by a duo of comedy professionals, Brian and Jared (who are probably not lovers).

Episode 41: Illegitimate Shadow Babies

Episode 41 for the week of March 6th, in which we review the recent A Dance with Dragons news with excitement (except Chase). We discuss chapters 69 and 70 of A Game of Thrones, MC Tywin and blood magic sacrifices. We are joined by Sebastian the Swede, who sacrificed his dinner to guest host with us.
