Episode 136: The K and the Grey

Episode 136 for the week of March 2nd, in which we continue the longest running reread of A Clash of Kings, covering chapter 55 (Tyrion XII) and chapter 56 (Catelyn VII). We are joined by Elena (Lady Grey), one of the main writers and singers in our APOIAF Christmas Filks episodes.

Episode 135: The Patriarchs of Westeros

Episode 135 for the week of February 16th, in which VOK guest hosts Katie and Michal fill in to help host Stefan Sasse, co-host of the Boiled Leather Audio Hour, Lord of the Nerdstream Era, and author of It is Known: Season 3 Deconstructed. We discuss one of Stefan’s upcoming contributions to Tower of the Hand: A Hymn for Spring, specifically his essay The Patriarchs of Westeros: Examining the toll the great lords exact from their families, their smallfolk, and from progress. We also cover chapters 52 (Jon VI) and 54 (Jon VII) of A Clash of Kings.

Notes: Stefan’s essay is currently available at Amazon, as it is included as part of Remy Verhoeve’s Waiting for Winter: Re-Reading A Clash of Kings, published by Blue Buddha Media. Episode 134: FFG A Game of Thrones Card Game Interview

Episode 134 for the week of February 16th, in which we interview Damon Stone (Game Designer) from Fantasy Flight Games (FFG). We chat about FFG’s A Game of Thrones: The Card Game, as well as ASOIAF and other geeky topics.

Notes:  As usual, this episode has spoilers for all five books in George RR Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire and all aired episodes of HBO’s Game of Thrones. The rules for the card game can be found at FFG’s online tutorial, including video instructions.

Episode 133: Valentine’s Day in Westeros

Episode 133 for the week of February 9th, in which the gentlemen record a thematic episode for Valentine’s Day. We are joined by Duncan (Valkyrist), one of the curators from Vassals of Kingsgrave, the Australian branch. We cover chapter 53 (Sansa IV) of A Clash of Kings, and now wait to receive further listener inspired artwork.

Episode 130: Christmas Filks II

Episode 130 for the week of Jan 5th, in which we conclusively complete the holiday season by releasing our second Christmas Filks episode, continuing the yearly tradition. Ashley, Amin, and Kyle are joined by BOK and VOK guest host Leigh (Lord Manderblee) to cover chapter 48 (Arya IX) of A Clash of Kings. Episode 128: FFG AFFC & ADWD Board Game Interview

Episode 128 for the week of December 15th, in which we interview Jason Walden (Game Producer) from Fantasy Flight Games. We talk about FFG’s A Game of Thrones: The Board Game, 2nd edition, as well as the variants and expansions A Feast for Crows and A Dance with Dragons, in a shorter sequel episode to the massive Episode 92.

Episode 123: Calling the Banners

We react to our recent Podcast Awards nomination and some news, before continuing the longest running reread of A Clash of Kings, specifically chapter 38 (Theon III) and chapter 39 (Arya VIII).

Episode 122 for the week of October 20th, in which we complete our podcast tour of the Collector’s Edition of A Flight of Sorrows, currently available until November 1st. We review Amin’s A Feast of Vipers, before diving into the long awaited analysis of Mimi’s A Telltale Knight, freely available for reading at Tower of the Hand. We conclude with a discussion of Kyle’s afterword: Completed Songs and Frozen Conversations. We also learn about Mimi and Kyle’s recent meet-up in San Diego.
